She's a senior in HS. Boy, have I had to bite my lip. All I've
said is, this is wrong, see this marriage certificate, you can
see what her correct maiden name was, and so on. When inside I'm
hopping up and down

I'm sorry, clearly, your ex-MIL isn't willing to be cooperative.
I think that you could take some comfort in the likelihood that
at your daughter's age, she may not be particularly interested
in the details of family history.
But I agree that it is infuriating to see people digging around
in genealogy and getting basic facts wrong. Do you have your
family history stored in a computer friendly way? Then you
could print it out for your daughter to have the accurate
version for when she would be interested in the details?
(I've done quite a bit of family genealogy, and last year I
looked at Wikitree, which is an excellent idea, but I was taken
aback by the amount of misinformation and poor documentation.)

We exchanged a couple of emails and she *seems* to be realizing
that she has wrong info and I also realized that she somehow
thought I was asking her to research it. I made it clear again
that I have info and don't need her to do this. That will last
until her next foray ::)

Being able to see that there are several possible explanations
for contradictory data, and that your first thought might not be
the correct one, tends to be something that comes with
experience. She may not realize it now but she's lucky to be
getting that experience while still in high school.

I get how frustrating this is. But it sounds like your MIL wants
to hear how great it is that she's documenting your family
histories. Would it be possible for you to find ways to praise
her for her efforts, before offering up corrections? It might
help her get past her defenses, and accept your help.
I've avoided getting into genealogical research, because I've
seen too many people get "addicted" to it! The "rush" your MIL
gets from finding info (no matter how incorrect), and being
"helpful" (even when that's the last thing she's being) are
powerful forces.
Good luck with this. I think it's weird that my MIL has
absolutely no interest in her own family genealogy, but maybe
that's something for which I should be grateful!
