I was just typing a mojo post for you when you posted this. It
sounds like this is not the worst news? I hope that she is a
candidate for the surgery and that it is within your means.

I hope they consider her a candidate otherwise I have no options
by the sounds of it. Or maybe we just have to dig further.
I had already said goodbye kitchen when my furnace needed to
be replaced but I still have some leftover money from my bonus
that was not needed for my furnace. I also had her purchase
money set aside which has been fully refunded to me. The
breeder refunded her deposit today after I gave him Nori's
diagnosis. Obviously a chunk of that has been eaten up by
diagnosis. I easily have 3k that I could redirect. Above that,
I would have to start figuring out where it will come from.
My mom asked me how much the surgery will cost. I'm like no
clue but I assume it will be a lot.

I hope the fact that I am even contemplating this does not mean
I have more money than sense. Nor does it particularly mean
that I have oodles of spare money. It does mean that I will
prioritize her health over a new kitchen or a vacation
(hopefully not at the expense of Ecuador) or something else that
can be put off like say a new E-bike to help me get back into
biking. Many years ago I saved up money to buy a new bike.
Instead, I bought Frankie years of more life (this was even
before the cancer) by spending that money on emergency vet care.
My vet said, when she heard the heart, Nori will have a longer
life with you than she would somewhere else. I'm sure she meant
that I would be willing to spend the money if it provided
benefit. And to me, a near normal life span provides benefit.
As I said to my mom, if you amortize whatever this cost over 10
years it will be nothing. The problem is that the cost is all
up front.

I can't tell you to do it or not do it, because I don't know
your financial situation or the cost and also I wouldn't take
financial advice from me.
But I can tell you that it does not sound like you have more
money than sense, and that a near normal lifespan for a cat is a
lot of years. And that I am sending mojo.

Cat baby to be is now that wild woman Nori.
Now there was deceptive marketing.... Shy timid little kitten
that hid under the furniture for two days now terrorizes the
household. She could have been a Cassidy or a Riley or a Katee
if I had waited a week to name her.
But she is now Nori.
Nori is considered a high risk spay so she needs to be spayed at
a hospital with a specific anesthesia protocol, cardiologist
backup and an overnight stay for monitoring. And that spay is
$3000. Holy Hannah! Makes me wonder how we are going to get
her teeth cleaned.

I realized I probably didn't update everyone on the heart
surgery.
What they would do is send in a little balloon with nippers to
make little cuts in the constricting muscle and then put in an
expanding balloon to expand everything.
Since this is risky surgery the advice of the expert was to
perform this surgery when she is showing symptoms that the
defect is affecting her. This can be physical signs like
fainting or fatigue or wheezing. It can also show up as
elevated red blood cells in lab work.
So the surgery is on hold until she shows signs. Based on her
terrorist activities in the household, this is not happening
any time soon. Not even a whiff of fatigue.
