Yes, take care of yourself!
I dropped some shoe boxes off at the local shelter on Saturday
and if course just “looked.” I saw a flame point siamese who
seemed to pick me. Put in an application. But just found out
that someone else got their app in before me, and they’re
getting him. Oh well, wasn’t meant to be even though it felt
like I was his. Otoh, if anything changes the shelter said
they’d call me.
I might go look again this weekend. They got about 40 cats from
a hoarding situation. There was another that looked similar but
is supposedly very timid, and short haired. The one I liked had
medium hair.
I remain torn about adding another cat, especially considering
my age and health. I want. But should I? Such a dilemma.
Do you have family or a good friend who could commit to taking
the cat if necessary?
Probably. Son would be first choice. He has talked about getting
another, but right now he’s good with just ollie. There are a
few others I could ask. And of course there’s Mr.

I realize I am in a different part of my journey than you so I'm
hoping my response did not come off as insensitive. But I was
thinking much the same thing would apply. You don't know what
the future holds in terms of remission or not so I wanted to
suggest that you don't go into a holding pattern to wait but
rather make decisions based on the info you have today. Adjust
when you receive new info.
I have gone into limbo under uncertainty many times. I need to
stop that and live life with the knowledge I currently hold.
Hopefully this doesn't sound even more insensitive.

My husband and I are both 72. We currently are without cats
because we want to travel in a few years we'll probably travel
less but then would be concerned that a cat might well outlive
us. It's hard to guarantee that provisions you make for a pet
after your death will be carried out in the way you wish.

In one episode he says, "Finally, I got the last word" (or

Breeder texted me last night to say that Little One didn't get
spayed as planned. The vet heard a significant heart murmur
when she was examined and they didn't want to put her under
anesthesia. She is very tiny at 2.5 lbs so it might be
something she will grow out of. It might be a non-issue like
Coco's (she was a grade 2) or it might turn into something
serious.
Did I still want her for just the deposit? As you know, I am
pretty attached to having her so I said yes.
I'm still picking her up June 16th. I will need to put together
a plan of attack for getting her spayed when she is older as
well as figuring out how long we should wait to see if it
disappears or get an ultrasound to diagnose the cause.
I really thought I would be smart and get a healthy kitten and
get immediately on pet insurance. But apparently not. And
lucky me? She is the only kitten of the litter to have issues.
The only caveat is that I need to keep the breeder up to date on
health issues as whatever we discover could impact his breeding
program.

Oh boy do I feel this - the Facebiter was supposed to be my
young healthy cat too. Had to spend three nights in the hospital
within a week, and has been a consistent problem ever since (but
he is very sweetly cuddled up next to me as I type this, so he
has his benefits).
With the Facebiter, we kept an eye (well, an ear through a
stethoscope) on his heart murmur until he was 2, and then did an
ultrasound which revealed everything seemed fine. Then maybe a
couple years later, we did another one to make sure he'd stayed
stable, and now we're back to just keeping an eye out for signs
it might be getting worse. And for whatever it's worth, given
his accident- and illness-prone nature, the pet insurance has
still been worth it, at least until the senior pet price
increase hits.

No point in checking in for my homeward bound flight because I

Not looking forward to that 5:20am flight.
