They both seemed genuinely shocked. I love that.

I thought Angela Bassett was a shoe-in for best supporting
actress and that there was no way Ke Huy Quan would not win.
So I think Jamie Lee Curtis was truly and absolutely stunned (as
was Angela Bassett the other way) while KHQ was just truly
excited to have swept the Gotham, Screen Actor, Satellite,
Independent Spirit, and Academy Awards. His attitude and energy
are so fun and infectious!

i'm too lazy to look it up myself: was there a reason they went
from traditional red carpet to [s]champagne[/s] dentist office
beige ?
because lots of the dresses were really fab but the actors
looked like they were standing around in my living room (ie, yes
i have that dull color of walltowall carpet).
i did not dig it.
The article I read said it was partly because of the color of
the tent or awning and partly because some people are tired of
red and think it’s a bad color to match dresses to, etc.
Apparently the same company makes the carpet every year along
with lots of premiers.
I think some decorator just got a bee up his/her butt that it
was time to be daring.
I loved how the clothes popped this year on the Champagne
carpet. I have always disliked the red carpet since more than
black and white have been worn. Muted pastels are absolutely the
right play.
I think they could do a lot better with the backgrounds, too.
Maybe next year.

I’m lmao at all the Hugh Grant red carpet interview outrage.
Those interviews are always dumb and cringy.

Seriously. I'm not even a Brit & I'd have a hard time answering
such insipid questions w/o sounding snotty.

I kind of loved when his response to whose tux he was wearing,
he said 'mine'. And that it was made by his tailor.

I don't get the outrage either. :) I thought he was pretty
funny, actually.
But it wasn't a fair matchup between Grant and the interviewer.
Hugh has a 2:1 degree (upper second class honors) in English
literature from Oxford. His degree qualifies around a master's
level equivalent. Of course he could make a quick quip about
Vanity Fair....which is a pretty apt description of those types
of events.
The interviewer Ms Graham didn't get the reference at all and so
she got mocked. It was a bit painful to watch. I think iit was
an unfair situation to put her in professionally. On the
positive side, I admire how she persevered.

I got it and I got she didn’t but that wasn’t even the worst of
it. The had fun comment had my eyes rolling. But that’s what you
get with these interviews. Just stick with who are you wearing.

I just watched this interview to see what the fuss is about.
IMHO, the fuss is about nothing. He was his usual self. Has
she not ever seen him do an interview before? I don't get the
outsized reaction. So a comment went over someone's head. It
happens. It isn't such a big deal. I think she can cope.
I suppose when there is no big Oscars controversy, they need to
make something up? Seems like manufactured outrage to me.
