What was I doing wrong with following up to a comment with
quoting the comment I'm replying to?
- I clicked the "Quote" box at the top right of the comment I'm
replying to. The Reply box shows up, but there's no comment in
it.
- I moved away into a different thread, posted a throwaway
response elsewhere, and then came back to it, and then the same
thing happened.
So instead I used the "Quick Reply" and copy and pasted what I
was following up into a quote, which is okay but I'd like to
know what I was doing wrong so I don't always have to do that.

If you hit the quote button, but then don't actually post, it
kinda breaks the quote. You have to complete a post to clear it
up.
That was my experience anyway. It happens because there is no
cancel button. My best guess.

Thank you for being the first not-moderator to post on the ask a
moderator thread!

You're, um, welcome. My apologies if I'm violating some taboo.

kkt, it was really kind of frightening to me in a weird kind of
way that on a post that solicited questions to admins and mods
that only admins and mods were asking questions. I was relieved,
that's all.

PSA
If you've got a tech question, please do yourself a favor and
please please ask ANYone in the universe before you ask me.
I live to serve and would definitely help if I could but I (most
likely) cant so I wont.
End PSA

No tech questions .... but this seemed the appropriate place to
put this:
My computer's being a giant doink, and AWS has saved the day!
Currently working in a HUGELY powered workspace ;D
Also, being self-employed, and your own IT department sucks
donkey ballz some days.

I've tried setting up ignore for a poster, but I still see their
posts.
What am I doing wrong?

I haven't tried this out yet, but can you log out and back in
again, someone said that fixed it.

I tried it just to test it today & found the same thing: that i
could still see their posts.
So, I"m *guessing* that the Ignore function only works for
future posts: the previous ones (that were posted before you
enacted the Ignore) will still appear.
Can anyone else confirm how the Ignore button works here ?
