Re: My Employer Just Announced Manditory Vaccination

Way back in June, when California's vaccinated rate hit 70% or
whatever, and things started opening up, my employer, a local
municipality, said we could go maskless at work if we "sign" a
statement that we are fully vaccinated.
I'm really hating the "on your honor" crap around masks. I'm
back to staying away from people, wearing a mask when I go into
a store or anywhere inside where I'm likely to be around
strangers.

Spouse thought I was being ridiculous about masks after we were
vaxxed. Most of spouse's outside the house exposure is coworkers
(who all raced to be vaxxed first) and customers (who are
required to have either a mask on OR a decal from the security
office confirming vaccination status on their always visibly
worn badge).
Then we dropped into Wegmans on a Sunday morning. Our
neighboring county has a 60% vaccination rate ... it was more
like 95% unmasked.

Yes. It's very clear that the anti-vaxers have no honor.

I think honor is irrelevant here. There's no way to tell by
looking if someone is vaccinated, and therefore it makes sense
to take universal precautions and assume that everyone is
unvaccinated unless you have hard data to the contrary.

It's really too bad that we don't get a tattoo "V" in the middle
of the forehead along with the jab. Not permanent, maybe lasts 6
months or something, but puts everyone else on notice.

Our district offered us a one-time vaccination stipend. $300 if
you just submit an image of your vaccination card showing you're
fully vaccinated. If you were lucky enough to get it done at one
of the district's vaccine clinics, you don't even have to submit
the card; they already have a record. Like other TX districts,
face masks are part of the dress code. (Unusual at my campus is
that they're actually enforcing that part of the dress code.
They still let other violations slide.) I will say that even
before the dress code addendum, our parents were polled and
returned a 98% support for a mask mandate. Our governor's an
idiot, though, so to be safe the district deployed the dress
code loophole.
I can only hope that vaccination and viral diseases suddenly get
put on the standardized tests for the next several decades so at
least our upcoming generations will have a better understanding
about how vaccines work.

It'd be better if everyone who was unvaccinated got a
non-permanent "N" on their foreheads that is removed when they
are fully vaccinated. Otherwise there will be a lot of people
going to tattoo parlors to have those "V"s put on.

I guess I just don't think government-applied tatoos is ever
going to be a subject that feels OK.

I am wondering what the vaccine defiant expected would happen
once the vaccines began to be FDA approved. Did they expect
employers to take unnecessary risks that could result in their
legal liability? Or to risk killing off their own work force?
Are the vaccine defiant just now catching on to what it actually
means to have mostly at will employment? The individual has
very little recourse, if any at all, to refuse employer demands
- especially when it is a public health issue. I doubt any
court will side with anti-vaxxer employees on this. This is the
exactly the kind of "freedom" they so fervently seek, is it not?
Getting fired for noncompliance comes with it.
