{{{hugs}}} I'm crying for you and Sparky, my friend.
You gave him a good life and he was a wonderful companion for
you. I know there's a great big hole in your heart right now for
your dear fuzzy friend, and I wish you peace.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this - I know how much our furry
family members mean to us and how hard it is when we lose them.
Sending hugs to you and your family...

There is something special about pet people who repeatedly take
in animals knowing very well that in 5 or 10 or 20 years they'll
have to say goodbye. It's so hard but the joy those little guys
give us makes up for it. I know that all of us on this page
have been through it more than once and I think we'd all do it
again, knowing full well what's coming.
After our last cat left us we chose not to have more pets for a
while since we want to be able to travel without worrying about
them. But in a few years as we slow down we will likely adopt an
adult cat or two that fit our own ages - since we are no longer
spring chickens ourselves.

We know that we're probably coming up on the last generation of
kittens we can take in, because we only have so many years
ourselves. I would rather take the pain of losing them, than
leave them with the pain of losing us. So after that we will
probably look for senior cats.

I've never had a cat (so that's why I love everybody else's so
much), so I'm not sure what the One Fast Cat wheel is. (I
looked at Sparky's cute pic twice and still cant figure it out.)
When you feel up to it, may I have a short cat wheel story
sometime ? <3

He didn't use it that often, mostly as a way to get treats. I'd
hold one up for him to run after and let him snatch it from my
fingers. Sometimes he'd drop it and give this exasperated kitty
curse as he chased it down (lord forbid Kali grab it first!)

Yeah, I’ve had my eye on a couple older cats I’ve seen on
shelter websites. They’ve all been adopted before I could get to
the shelters to meet them. I’m ok with that, though. Happy they
got homes. One day I’ll find the one who’s meant to be ours.
In the meantime we have 4 yo Mia and 12 yo Sasha. (Was looking
for an older one when we got Mia at about 6 months old, but she
was irresistible)
Loved your story about how you got Sparky and Buzzy.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Itopian. Thanks for sharing stories
about Sparky, and the image. What a beautiful cat.

Ha I had no idea there was a gerbil wheel for cats! I can just
imagine his inner eye roll and cursing all the while not wanting
his sib to get in on the action (sounds like 2gerbils I know).
Loved his origin story: sounds like you won the neko-chan
lottery that day...
