My dogs ate the internet...

Yesterday I had to call Spectrum because I had no internet
signal. Eventually we managed to get it back running until about
6 last night. Miraculously, they had an open appointment slot
between 8 and 9 PM (did you know the poor cable techs are
working that late?) so the nice CSR put us on his list -- and a
few minutes before he was due to arrive a) the modem suddenly
started working again and b) I happened to go out in the back
yard and, well, the dogs had been chewing the internet cable.
This poor guy is stumbling around in the back yard, where it's
a) dark as all bejeebers and b) someone's dogs had dug a series
of trenches so they could play WWI, apparently. He was relieved
to know what the issue was, rather than spending time trying to
troubleshoot. He replaced our wires, we blocked them off from
puppy access and now have stable internet, but I will be so glad
when they stop putting everything in their mouths and stop
chewing on anything that will fit between their jaws...

Oy. I had a squirrel problem once with some telephone wires, but
at least I didn't own the squirrel!
