I got a "wow, that's too much garlic" once, back in my lifeguard
days.
What did I do in retaliation?
I sent a clove of garlic in the mail. To his work address. (No
return address, of course.)

LOL. You reminded me that I had a similar comment once in my
younger days. A friend set me up on a double date with her BF's
friend. She and I made spaghetti. My date said "You guys sure
like garlic". He was very attractive. But, nope, not a match.

And you reminded me of Mr. Warm Tea (can explain if you don't
know the reference).
He also had a habit of calling me a bit late on Friday evenings
to see if I wanted to get together. I always had had dinner by
then, and a favorite was skirt steak with onions. He could
apparently smell the onions coming out of my pores. Did I
apologize? Nope. I told him if he didn't like the smell of
onions, he could call me earlier and plan the evening together
in advance, so I would know not to eat onions that day. If he
wasn't going to call me, I'd eat whatever I damned wanted.

That's how I measure too ;D
The spouse says "you should make that again" knowing full well
the results will vary, and it's true for everything except
sourdough, pastry, and pizza dough. I weigh the ingredients for
those carefully each time, and actually follow the timing on
resting, fermenting, and baking.

Lol. This is how I make tomato sauce. There is no recipe. I know
how many tomatoes equals about how much garlic and onions, and
from there, it's pulling herbs out of the cabinet and adding til
it seems about right. After a couple of hours of simmering is
the taste test and then the "hmm. a little more of this, a touch
of that."
I do cheat by started with canned crushed tomatoes, but I was
taught to do it that way by the NYC/Brooklyn crew of Italian
peeps I used to roam around with, and have never gotten a bad
review on my sauce...

Also a pumpkin cheesecake recipe that I love where literally -
it was one of the comments on it that said to double all the
spices and that made it perfect - and oh boy were they right!

I'm late to the garlic fest, but I laugh at the meager amount of
garlic written into any/all recipes and easily double it.
🧄🧄🧄🧄🧄🧄🧄🧄
I guess recipe authors write to the lowest common denominator
for garlic & all spices because the whiners in the audience
would loudly moan & complain otherwise.
The rest of us, we just double all spices & garlic because we
have actual tastebuds and love flavor vice bland tasteless mush.

My husband sweats garlic when he eats too much - It's so bad
that I have to wash the sheets the next morning.

I didn’t necessarily drop everything and run over there.
And he may have expected a bootie call, but the onion was a good
deterrent. 😏

I went when I wanted to, didn’t if I didn’t. I was woman, hear
me roar.
Edited to fix typos since TwoASAP was giving me a hard time. (A
harder time than Mr. Warm Tea.)
