MAYBE kitty-to-be is home!

We brought him home early this afternoon. I don't know if I've
managed to tire this little bit out with all his new toys, but
he's certainly exhausted ME. He loves the catnip mouse with a
feather tail (and it even SQUEAKS). I can't wait till he gets
his first cardboard box. 😁
He's adorable but flighty with the new people and new
environment. I did get some purrs from him today. It's going to
take some time to win his complete trust - especially after we
take him to the vet to get "tutored." He had no trouble learning
where his litter box is, and not much more trouble spotting the
food/water dishes. Smart little bugger.
I love him already. Mr. Thistle is wooing him. We're so glad to
be a "catted" family again.

What a beauty! I'm so pleased for you all.
Did you get a cat fountain or are you going with still water?
Our lot love the fountains (we have 4 fountains and 3 still
water options) over the still water. They're a tiny bit more
work but I do see the cats drinking more.

I really like the silver-and-ebony combination -- he's a very
handsome little guy! Best of luck with your new housemate, and
may you all have many happy years together.

Aard, we're using still water at the moment, because I had a
water dish already, but I'm seriously considering getting a
fountain. Would love a recommendation if you have a fountain you
really like.

We use the PetKit, the Toozey, and Catit.
I prefer the PetKit to the others; it has two filters and it
auto-shuts down when the water level is too low. I can see the
water level from the front easily enough, and when it does shut
down it shines a blue light that makes it pretty obvious.
Neither Toozey nor Catit do that. Toozey and Catit take similar
filters, but PetKit's is more specific. The pump can run all
the time or you have a "smart" option, so it bubbles for a few
minutes then shuts off, then turns back on a little while later.
There's a smallish "bowl" that holds some water all the time.
A change filter light flashes orange at you, and you have to
depress the filter button to get it to shut off even if you've
changed the filters.

Ours is like this, but the bowl part is round vs squared off (we
have older units.)
The Toozey basically bubbles in the bowl and slowly lets water
feed back through the filter into the reservoir, so there's
always lots of water surface for the cats. You can adjust the
strength of the flow on the pump so you're not shooting water up
the cat's nose. IIRC there's a flower attachment to actually let
water splash a bit like a regular fountain, but I generally
don't use those because one of our cats is absolutely nuts about
water (she'll stand in the still bowl and splash the water
around) so I don't like to encourage her.

/>The cleaning equipment was nice, but I'm not seeing it in
stock
anywhere. Amazon doesn't even have a page for it any more.
The Catit would let you use the "flower" to make a proper
fountain or pull it out and the water simply washes over a
plastic dome and trickles through the filter back to the
reservoir. We have one that likes this one, but the other four
don't. They like to be able to lap out of a little depression at
least, and there's no way for a cat to do that with Catit. (At
least, not the one we have.) You can't see the water level at
all, but you pretty quickly get a feel for how often you need to
top them off, and they all get a good wash regularly.

/> Again, we leave off the flower.
