Hi! I started with the dailies and just now found this thread.
       :-\
I've always been more of a lurker than poster, but I did put out
a few over the last 20-ish years on WaPo. I doubt many people
will remember me, though as an avid reader of the comments I
       happily remember many names here.
The comments change was just the last straw for me.
Years ago, Tar Valon (group for avid Wheel of Time fans) used
this forum software, but I've forgotten much of how it works.
Hopefully it'll get familiar again quickly.
Anyway, since we can share stuff here... :D A brief
       introduction:
I'm a GenXer originally from the frozen wilds of Iowa (lol), but
I've moved around a lot since leaving HS. I've spent some time
living in Guatemala City, Lubbock, Kansas City, Chicago, DC,
       Atlanta, and now Savannah.
I'm also an economist with the federal gov't, in a series of
jobs I've pretty much loved over the last 24 years, may it
continue (preferably another 8 years for regular retirement
eligibility, or at least another year with a VERA!). I get a lot
of personal satisfaction with Excel, VBA, SAS, and Python. :D
       ;D
Oh, and if you didn't notice from the previous mention, I like
fantasy and urban fantasy reading (ereader these days so I can
scale up font size). I've also been known to participate in
musical theatre/opera and community choirs; knit; play piano,
flute, clarinet, and oboe; and snuggle with my cat.
       [/quote]
Welcome! Feel free to post pics of your cat in the Floofs
       threads.

I grew up in the part of Iowa I call the middle of nowhere. SE
corner. But I am much older than you, I left in 1971 and have
       rarely been back.
       Welcome!

Welcome. I’ve lived my whole life in Minnesota so a fellow
midwesterner. Also read urban fantasy and am interested in
hearing about authors others like. And I played flute in school
       close to 100 years ago.

You definitely had me at "snuggle with cat"! Hope you can post
       some pics sometime.
The other things contribute to an impressive 'resume', and I
look forward to reading more of your posts.
