She has had an unexplained neurological event. We left her in
their care for 24 hours.
My eye is not in good shape after all that although the only
thing I did that was remotely strenuous was help Mr. Ryder get
her into the crate. It was a two person effort. I didn't even
carry her because we wanted to reduce additional strain.
But it's stressful and there were tears. Now
I'm going back to best to rest. This was not the first activity
post surgery I was hoping for.

Oh, this is so sad, especially on top of your own health
problems. Maximum mojo to you both. {{{hugs}}}

She is a fighter. I just got the update.
She is up and walking around (this morning it seemed like she
had no use of her back legs) with potentially no limp. That
limp was significant when she went to the vets last and hadn't
improved so you think they would notice it if it still existed.
Her head bobbing is almost gone. Her electrolytes are
stabilizing. Lots of possibilities such as a stroke, seizure,
cancer. If it happens again, we are going to have to dig
deeper.
She is chowing down on food which is the best sign of recovery
in my opinion.
If she continues in this vein we get her home tomorrow.
They recommend we put off her surgery and in fact they recommend
we revisit the cardiologist before we put her under anesthesia.
I will speak to my regular vet next week.
She scared the crap out of us. Let's not go through that again.

Oh boy,. Coco is not coming home.
I don't know these emergency doctors so I cant evaluate what
they are telling me based on what I know about their
personalities. That great eval I got yesterday? Greatly
tempered today. This doc was on since 10pm last night and
hadn't seen her walk once - she just sort of scootched. She is
sitting upright better on her own. But according to the doc she
isn't peeing. Not even if they press on her full bladder. They
are trying to sort of if it's Neuro or cardio. Unfortunately,
if it's Neuro the remedy involves steroids which impacts her
heart.
Until she pees,. She can't come home.

Today's update. She has peed. On herself basically but she did
it.
She has stuff in her stomach that is not food. It's not
identifiable and I can't imagine what she could have eaten.
I get that stuff is lying around (I try hard to corral it but I
haven't been at my best for a while) but mostly it's tools and
clothing and bike parts - not bits you would think a cat would
eat. We don't generally keep things out like liquids that are
uncapped unless it's like water or a dirty plate.
So if it's a toxin I don't know what it could be. And of course
I probably haven't been paying close attention to things so
maybe something got left out I don't know about. All of my
paints and stains have been put away for weeks now - probably
before end of September based on my project reports. I think I
would notice if she ate one of the paint laden sponges given I
left a few out between coats to actually use them on the other
side.
And then there are mice in the building. I haven't seen them
but others on my floor have. So toxoplasmosis. They are
treating her for that to see if it helps. They drew blood to
test for that.
And finally a CT scan to look at the brain. That is on hold for
now as she investigates who can do it in a timely manner.
So they know nothing basically. We will get her home tomorrow
even if she stays the same. It's starting to look likely that
her limp was not entirely a lump. It might have started that
way but likely it morphed into the first signs of the Neuro
issue.
