This is Coco

We got Coco for Mr. Ryder but Coco never bonded to him or
anyone. I was Frankie's and everyone knew that. She was a
quiet kitty that mostly hung out on the bed. After Frankie
passed she started getting more affectionate with me but doesn't
really like to get held. She wants to snuggle on her terms.
6 weeks ago she got her annual exam and passed. Monday I
brought her in with what sounded like congestion. The vet
listened to her heart and lungs and said she could hear
something on the left and her heart murmur had jumped from a
grade 2 to a grade 4. She look xrays to look to see if their
was congestion.
Today I got the news.... The heart murmur isn't actually the
worst problem with her. They found a nodule in her lungs. Best
case... Benign. Worst case... Mestasisised from another part of
her body.
Thursday is the followup ultrasound. I'm not ready to lose
another one.

I’m sorry. Cats hide their problems so we’ll. Mojo for the best
case.

I'm so sorry. Mojo that it's a benign nodule and she has many
more years to love you and to be loved.

We got the unofficial ultrasound results today. Abdomen is
clear of any cancer. They did not do a needle biopsy because
they couldn't find the nodule found on the x-ray.
Options: hard to find primary lung cancer or... Some kind of
fungal or bacterial infection which has created crap in the
lungs which now can't be seen.
They want to wait for the official reading by a board certified
radiologist before pondering next steps.
Some next steps. Go to an internist to check lungs for
infection. Get CT scan for definitive where and what is that
nodule. Wait and take an x ray in a month.
This does not negate the other problem... She has sudden onset
worsening of her heart murmur. She skipped a whole grade in 6
weeks. That ultrasound is in August.

All I know is that she doesn't have cancer in her abdomen. They
didn't see the nodule in her lung with the ultrasound. They say
anything seen in the lungs doesn't go away without treatment so
they believe something is there. They recommend we see an
internist so I will call Dr. Kilrain. He treated Frankie for
her cancer and has an excellent reputation.
Cancer, infection or cyst... Your guess is as good as mine.

We got called in to the cardiologist due to a cancellation.
Heart murmur is fine. In 5 years it has gotten very minorly
worse which was absolutely nothing to worry about. Cardiologist
called it a Grade 3 not a Grade 4. We now have a new baseline
reading though.
He did mention the radiology report and said the radiologist did
amazing work finding the lung nodule and he would have missed
it. He said the radiologist was confident of their findings and
he referred to it as primary cancer. His demeanor made it seem
like he did not think it was benign.
He further said he was amazed that we found it so early because
normally its not found until late because it carries no
symptoms. We can chalk that up to my cat whispering. I often
intuit something is wrong before it can be diagnosed resulting
in multiple visits.
Waiting until the 20th for her appointment with the internist.
EDIT: despite being told we had no hope of getting a
cancellation since we were so far down the list, we got called
regarding a cancellation not 1 hour later. So glad I insisted
on being put on the cancellation list. Waiting until the 12th
for her appointment.
