       What's for memorial day?

We may fire up the smoker. I'm Jonesing for smoked salmon and
some short ribs, but if I have the smoker going I may as well
fill it right the way up. Maybe a chuck roast and/or some pork
       belly.

I've been wanting to go out to the coast since February. The gas
prices are putting a damper on that. The Sonoma coast isn't that
far, so maybe I will bite the guzzoline bullet and just go.

I have put zero thought into this other than that we're
potentially supposed to go to a very outdoor picnic, and I'm
thinking of bringing cucumber salad as my contribution.

       My weather forecast for tomorrow:
       Memorial Day
Partly sunny, with a high near 58. West wind around 10 mph.
It has been overcast for days, so now I have to do something
outdoors! Still too cool for the beach to be much fun. Maybe
something woodsy and close. All of the parks will be full. I
could hike some logging roads across the river in Washington
(legal as long as I am on foot and stick to the roads), do some
birding, and end up with warbler neck (i hear at least 4 species
at present). I don't like the idea of hiking those local roads
alone. I would carry my radio beacon for safety, but weird
things do go on in the woods around here. Weird human things.
       Still gaming that out.

Today I’m making those in slider size. We are having them with
       grilled corn and watermelon.
Tomorrow we are going to the lake and I am bringing turkey,
cheddar, and avocado wraps. Other people are bringing sides and
       fruit.

Last minute decision to make burgers. Thought about making some
buns, but wait! I have rye bread and an excess of onions. Patty
       melts, it is.

Grilled kielbasa, salad, grilled corn and watermelon today.
Barbecued chicken tonight to have tomorrow night. Probably with
corn and black bean salad, and peaches and blackberries.
