It is National Pepperoni Pizza Day!
According to legend, Raffaele Esposito created the first pizza
in June of 1889. The Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy,
inspired the pizza maker so much, he created the pie-shaped
delicacy. In the queen’s honor, he named it Pizza Margherita and
topped the pizza with tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. The
colors represent the Italian flag.
I thought pizza was like 500 years old. I am sure if you
research it, it has been around long but wasn't called pizza. I
love a good pepperoni pie!
It is also National Fried Rice Day!
This stuff is good but I have never made it myself.

These 2 foods do not go together, but they are both faves!

Oh, you have got to make fried rice! It's way better at home.
You do need leftover rice though, freshly cooked rice definitely
isn't the same. It's an excellent clean-out-the-fridge meal and
everybody loves it.
Sigh. I miss carbs.
I love pizza margherite and I love pepperoni on a sandwich or as
part of an Italian cold cuts stromboli, but I don't like it on
my pizza at all.
What's your favorite pizza? Mine is roasted eggplant, roasted
zucchini and artichoke hearts. Of course I can't get this
anywhere now because artichoke hearts aren't a thing anymore.
My current fave is from a local spot with wonderful chewy crust
and it's basically a crust with garlic and olive oil and then
after you take it out of the oven you put on a salad of frisee,
radicchio and kalamata olives in a lemony vinaigrette and
slather it with burratta.

[/quote]I am waaaaaaay more boring than you. Straight up
pepperoni is great if the pizza is good. One of my favorite
pizzas was a place in DC that did chicken pesto pizza.

I cannot get into chicken on pizza except barbecue chicken
pizza.
Pepperoni on pizza gets way too salty. For pizza meat I prefer
italian sausage. Oldest invented one that's good, with chicken
(yes, I know), bacon and feta cheeze (along with the regular
pizza blend, used sparingly) on a white sauce reminiscent of
ranch.

It is National Coffee Day!
I take it almost totally black. Just a tiny splash to take the
bitterness back a bit. I like it in my stouts as well as a
little in brownies.

I love fried rice, with a nice runny egg on top.... but my kids
just stared at me and ate nothing the only time I've attempted
it. Rice is such a lovely vehicle for bacon, eggs, scallions and
hot sauce.
I love all kinds of pizza. We have a brewery near us that does
all these weird pizzas and I am here for it. Their last special
was a Banh Mi pizza and they did another one with Nashville hot
chicken and pickles that looked good.
