your post reminded me of a 2013 Dakota in the Lake vid that you
posted a couple months ago. I still have it open on my tablet
(where I'm currently posting from) so I just watched it again.
She's wading out in the waves after retrieving a ball (I think)
and then - tail happily wagging - comes back to you on the
       beach.
If there's anything better than a happy dog playing in the
water*, I don't know what it might be.
*(actually snow is my other fave dog playground

Found this in my Facebook memories from 2011:
       --- Quote ---
       > Most mornings after the first walk, Dakota and I share a
banana. She gets about twice as much as I do, and she usually
enjoys it. This morning, she didn't feel like banana. Her
choice, her prerogative. I'm certainly not going to force her to
eat a piece of fruit. My Keurig wasn't cooperating this morning,
so I smacked the top of it (which, amazingly enough, worked).
About 2 seconds later, I feel a wet nose bump into my hand.
Dakota decided she wanted banana after all. I wonder if she
thought I would smack her on the head if she continued working
       so poorly.
       --- End Quote ---

Thanks for the tip...next time you feel a (wet) nose bump your
hand asking for food, it'll be me.

I'm pretty sure I definitely wouldn't pop you on the top of the
head no matter how poorly you were working. Maybe. I think.

Um, I don't really want to ask - but why is your nose wet?
Do I need to send you tissues along with the baked goods?

This is 9 years ago today. We had a pretty decent snowfall on
       Super Bowl Sunday.

I wish the sound was there. Ziva's bark is formidable. She wants
the ball. Dakota has the ball. Nothing is better than watching
       them play.
I swear those dogs would come alive when it reached 25º.

It's like Dakota can't even hear her barking! So sweet, so
adorable. What wonderful times you had with both of them, and
what wonderful memories you still have. 💕
