Is there a "hugs" emoji?
If and when you are ready, the universe will send you what you
need. I'm sorry that today is a sad anniversary.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. My sister texted me at 7:28 this
morning with a heart and a nice word. Then I opened my Facebook
memories and found 9 years of her saying happy birthday to
Dakota. At first, I thought I'd start crying right in the vet's
lobby (Ziva had a pedi this morning), but then it just made me
smile.
I've still got Ziva, Q. I'm blessed.

I should've put this here in the first place (but I forgot about
it). But since my Ziva post was hijacked by cat people, here it
is again.
This is my first best girl, Dakota. I posted these videos on
June 20, 2013, and they're both from that week.
1. Dakota at the Montrose Dog Beach on Lake Michigan (23
seconds)

2. A one-whistle recall from about 150' away. (We were at the
undeveloped back part of a cemetery, and she had been exploring
for about 5-8 minutes.)
(Sound helps, 30 seconds)

We met Ziva, my second and current best girl, about 3 months
later.

You're okay. Cat people talk more about their animals. It is
known to be true and accepted.
Dog people, on the other hand, are known practitioners of
sarcasm.

I thought practicing sarcasm was part of the entrance test for
Haxnuts.

It's 3 years today. I miss her as much as ever.
Every once in a while, I think about that little tuft of grass.
A few weeks before she died, she found such delight in it. In
the 3 years since, no matter how long I go between mowing, that
little tuft of grass has never been there again. I'm so glad I
have the photo. It's the same one that appears in the first post
in this thread, and here it is again. I take delight in the joy
I see in her.
