I can't decide if I'm flattered. About looking like an

ME: Can Dad and I come to your show?
OLDEST (WHO IS NOT A TEEN ANYMORE): When you guys come everyone
thinks you are undercover cops. This changes the vibe and not
       in a good way.

We offered to dress head to toe in his merch but were still
       rejected.

Well, yeah, if you dress head to toe in his merch you look even
       more like undercover cops.

Kevin Cronin’s parents held court at every REO Speedwagon
concert. They had their own list for backstage access every time
the band came near Chicago. I’m pretty sure the other guys in
the band had parents that did the same. I know it was true for
Survivor, too. (I once went to a post-show —- REO and Survivor—-
party at a bowling alley own by the Survivor guy’s family.)
What I’m saying is that you’ll be able to go as yourselves and
really hold court once his group gets really famous.

       Dear Everyone,
You are allowed, nay, encouraged to make dinner for the family
happen. Looking up hopefully as I walk in the door at 7:15 is a
poor strategy. You were home. There were ingredients in the
fridge. Nothing terrible would have happened if you cooked some
       of them.

Yes, but you are the Magic Food Fairy!
(Note, sarcastically using this on my son once upon a time, did
not end well, when he - at 16 - told me he was hungry and I
looked at him and said "So? You know where the kitchen is. What

make all the things that is delicious!"
