Lacy sighed as she looked through the wedding dresses hung on
the wall. Her mother in her background on the phone with the
       florist.
Laila. I don't care that they have to be flown from Paris... I
want it.... She wants it too!... Get it done!
Moments later Laila was walking toward Lacy with a glass of
white wine. Lacy sighed as she pulled a dress from the bar and
moved to a mirror holding it up in front of her. She stared in
the mirror at herself thinking about her night with her fiance
and how sour the note they ended on was.
Laila appeared behind her in the mirror as she sipped her wine.
Laila. Thats beautiful... You're beautiful my darling... Why do
       you look like that?
       Lacy. Like what?
Lacy moved from the mirror and put the dress back on the bar in
the spot she'd grabbed it from and she continued to look down
       the rack.
Laila. Dont play big girl with me... I know when something is
       bothering you...
Laila grabbed Lacy's hand and led her to the seating area as
Lacy followed sluggishly behind. Laila took a seat and patted
the seat next to her. Lacy rolled her eyes slightly and sighed
       as she took the seat.
       Lacy. Im fine..
Laila. Nonsense... Maddis, could you bring my Lacy the same
       glass I'm having?
       Maddis. Coming Mrs. Winston..
Within a matter of moments Lacy had a glass in one hand and a
       tissue in the other
Lacy. I know he's a good man, and I love him mama.. But.... I
       just dont know sometimes..
Laila. Look. The world is already going to be against your union
cause there is no such thing as a perfect marriage.. If you have
your doubts about it then dont enter into it..
Before Lacy could say anything her phone vibrated with a text
message. She looked down at the preview.
Hubby.:. I know I'm wrong baby.. Just come home and....
Lacy sighed and looked at Laila.
Lacy. Im not gonna call off the wedding ma... I just need some
       time to clear my head.
Lacy took a sip of her wine as did Laila.
Laila. I just want you to know that you deserve the best... And
he is a good man.. I just want you to be happy baby..
Lacy nodded and took another sip of her wine as her phone
vibrated with an unknown local number. Laila and Lacy both
       looked at her phone.
       Laila. Who is that?
       Lacy. I dont know..
She answered the phone with another sip of wine.
       Lacy. Hello?
??. Hey, um. Can I speak with Lacy Winston?
       Lacy. Speaking..
??. Oh shit.. Im glad you still have the same number.. How you
       been?
       Lacy. Umm. Who is this?
       ??. Amir...
       Lacy's mouth dropped slightly.
       Lacy. I.. I gotta go.
Lacy hung up and drunk the rest of her wine as she stood from
her seat still in a state of shock.
       Laila. Who was that?!
Lacy. Umm. Ima go mom.. I gotta go..
Lacy rushed out of the store and left her glass on the counter
as she tried to unscramble her mind. The last time she'd heard
from her high school sweetheart he broke her heart when he told
her he was leaving... And she told him never to contact her
again if he left... And he left... So she shut him out of her
mind completely and moved on with her life. "Why did you have to
come back now?! Why is your heart beating so fast?!"
She climbed in her car and drove off toward her hotel room where
she'd stayed the night before after her fight with her fiance.
