Amir bounced Aeson on his shoulder lightly, grinning back as he
giggled up at him. He was standing in the nursery, cuddling his
baby son after he had just woke up from a nap. Lacy walked in
with a smile on her face and a warm bottle in her hand.
Lacy. Look at you warming up to fatherhood.
Amir. It's easy when you got a handsome son like we got.
Lacy kissed his cheek and took Aeson from his arms, feeding him.
Lacy. Are you going to the studio today?
Amir. Yup, me and Leo.
Lacy. Leo's going? For what?
Amir. Guy time. Haven't had any since he moved out and I've been
so wrapped up in you and the baby.
Amir watched as Lacy sat down. A wave of guilt hit him and he
took a deep sigh. It was now or never.
Amir. Baby, I got something to talk to you about.
Lacy. What?
Amir sat on the floor at her feet, looking up at her as she fed
Aeson.
Amir. A few months ago...after I found out everything he did to
you...I tracked Jasen down, and I kidnapped him. When he just
"went missing" was when I had him.
Lacy's eyes fell on Amir.
Amir. And you told me you were pregnant, so I had a choice to
make and I thought I made the right one by letting him go. I
told him to never come back and bother you again. Obviously,
that didn't work out like I wanted it to. I know you're mad, and
I'm sorry. I should have told you way sooner than now. But, I
legitimately thought he was out of our lives for good.
They stared at each other, Lacy's face growing more and more
hurt with each word that came from Amir. The silence said more
than any response could have. Amir sighed.
Amir. Baby, say something. Please?[/center]

Lacy glared at Amir as thoughts ran through her head. She
thought back to the moment she had with Jasen, then she thought
about Jasen going missing. Through all that time, he hadn't told
her a thing.
Lacy. You caused this Amir.. You caused all of this! And you
didn't tell me!
Amir. Baby..
Lacy. No! Don't baby me.. You're the reason my brother doesn't
look like my brother anymore.. And that's why he popped up in my
hospital room!
Amir. Lacy.. I..
Lacy. No Amir.. You fucking lied to me! You know how I feel
about secrets and you've been lying to my face!
Lacy went to put Aeson down in his swing and she propped his
bottle up for him. They both walked out of the room and Amir
shut the door as Lacy made her way to the front of the house.
Lacy. I can't fucking believe you Amir! I trusted you!
Amir. Baby. I didn't lie to you..
Lacy. Yes you did! I even asked you about the stuff he was
telling me and you acted like you didn't know what I was talking
about! I cant believe you lied to me about this!

Amir. I didn't lie, I was trying to protect you!
Lacy. And look at the job you've done! All of this stress and
anxiety I have is at your hands, Amir!
Amir. No, it's not. But, I'm gonna make it right, baby! I'm
going to find him and handle him!
Lacy. He's been walking around all this time...and you knew he's
been around all this time...
Amir. Look, he hasn't been seen or heard from since he attacked
your brother.
Lacy. He's alive! He's out there! He's probably been stalking us
this whole time! He probably knows where we live, and it's
because you lied! I told you to just leave him be, Amir!
Amir clenched his eyes shut as he felt a throbbing headache
approaching him.
Amir. Lacy, please don't yell at me, okay?
Lacy. I'll yell if I want to, Amir! How could you lie about
this?!
Amir. Look, I told you I didn't lie to you! I thought I had it
handled, and I wasn't about to put any unnecessary discord
between us!
Lacy. Amir, shut up!
Amir looked taken aback by her tone.
Amir. Lacy...I asked you to please stop yelling at me, okay? We
can talk about this, but I can't have you yelling at me. That
shit is giving me a headache.
Lacy. Think about all the headaches I've had since that psycho
showed up in my hospital room threatening me and my family! He
hurt my brother, Amir!
Amir. Everything doesn't revolve around the Winstons, Lacy,
damn! I did what I did for you! For us!
Lacy. You deliberately went against me to do something I told
you would cause trouble!
Amir. You think I'm not gon' move the earth to protect you?! I
tried to do that right thing by letting the motherfucker keep
his life, I didn't think he would come back to stalk us!
Lacy. You didn't think at all!
They stared at each other as she folded her arms.
Lacy. I should take Aeson and move in with my daddy.
Amir. You're not taking my son from my house, Lacy.
Lacy. You don't get to dictate anything anymore. You dictating
is how we got in this mess.
Lacy began to storm off. Amir grabbed her arm and she snatched
from him, shoving him. Without a second thought, Amir grabbed
her by both of her arms and shoved her onto the couch, getting
nose to nose with her.
Amir. Don't fucking push me, Lacy! Don't put your hands on me!
I'm trying to fuckin' talk to you!
Amir paused and let Lacy go. His adrenaline was through the roof
when he stepped back from her and she was staring at him in
anger and terror.[/center]

Lacy pushed herself away from his as he bagged away from the
couch. The looked she'd just seen in his eyes was something
she'd never seen before, and it scared her.
Amir. Lacy..
Lacy. You're acting crazy Amir..
She made it back to her feet..
Amir. Baby. I just wanna talk.. I just need you to let me make
it right.
Lacy shook her head.
Lacy. I dont want to talk to you right now Amir.
Amir. You have to listen to me baby.. I'm gonna make it right..
Lacy. You can't make this right.
Amir. Yes I can!
She watched as Amir closed his eyes and held his head again and
she made a dash around the couch running toward the back of the
house. When she made it to Aeson's room
she shut and locked the door. She backed away from the door
looking at it as she tried to make sense of what was wrong with
Amir. She looked over at Aeson and saw he had fallen asleep, so
she grabbed his diaper bag stuffing it with stuff they would
need through the night.
She jumped when she heard a knock at the door and a twist of the
knob.
Amir. Baby.. Unlock the door..
Lacy. No.. You lied to me and now you're acting all crazy..
We're just gonna go see my dad tonight. We... We just need some
time apart right now..

Amir. Baby, I'm sorry I scared you. You know I'll never hurt you
or Aeson, Lacy. You're just not listening to me and I need you
to listen.
Lacy. It's just for tonight.
Amir. Open the door, Lacy.
He heard shuffling.
Amir. You're not taking my son if I can't say bye to him, Lacy.
Lacy. Amir, just--
Amir. Open the door and let me kiss my son.
Silence. Then, he heard the door unlock. He slowly opened it to
see Lacy staring at him. He put his hands up.
Amir. Princess, I'm not gon' hurt you. Baby--
Lacy. Do what you need to do with Aeson.
She slipped past him, never taking her eyes from him before she
got to the hall and went to the master bedroom. He closed his
eyes as he remembered a conversation he'd had with his superior
officer before he left to come home.
Superior. Shakur, you've seen things most men couldn't handle on
this tour. When you get to civilian life, I want you to get some
help.
Amir. I'm fine, sir.
Superior. My brother said he was fine before he blew his brains
out. PTSD isn't something to take lightly, son. It becomes a
problem right when you think it won't be.
Amir held Aeson close to him, kissing his head and whispering to
him.
Amir. I'm sorry, buddy. Daddy is going to get the help he needs,
okay? I can't be having you guys leave me all the time.
Amir pulled the car seat up and began to lie Aeson in it.
Amir. I don't care what nobody feel, though. Daddy loves you and
mommy. No matter what.[/center]

Lacy picked her phone up off of the charger and placed a call to
her cousin since she couldn't think of anyone else to call, and
she didn't really want to get her dad involved. After a few
rings Gabrielle picked up.
Gabby. Hey cousin..
Lacy. Hey Gabby..
Gabby. Why do you sound like that?
Lacy. I.. I need to talk to you..
Gabby. What's going on? Is everything okay?
Lacy. Amir and I are having a... a disagreement, and I.. I don't
know if I should leave or what..
Gabby. Do you think yall can get through it?
Lacy. I dont know..We got in an argument and he grabbed me a
bit.. I don't want to leave my home tonight but..
Lacy sighed.
Lacy. I feel like I need to leave him tonight..
Gabby. Well you know you and the baby are always welcome. Just
pop up if you need to.. Okay?
Lacy. Okay. Thank you..
They said their goodbyes and Lacy hung up the phone as she
looked in the mirror. Her heart dropped slightly when she saw
Amir was standing in the doorway in the reflection. She turned
around to face him and she saw that look in his eye again.

Amir. I want you and my son back here tomorrow morning...if you
not, I'm coming to get you.
Lacy. I--
Amir. Tomorrow morning...
He handed Aeson's car seat to Lacy and leaned in, planting a
kiss on her cheek. She shuddered at his touch as he stared at
the side of her face, his head throbbing. She hurriedly grabbed
her keys and left out of the house.

Jasen sat in his car across the street and watched as Lacy
walked from the house, baby in tow. He smirked.
Jasen. Where you going, beautiful?
He started the tracker on his phone, but paused. To his
surprise, Amir wasn't with them. He was standing in the doorway,
watching them get in the car. Jasen watched as Lacy pulled from
the house and sped off down the street. Amir walked back into
the home and Jasen chuckled.
Jasen. Damn...too easy...
Jasen stepped from his car and made his way across the street...
...Moments later, Jasen stepped into the home as quiet as a
mouse. He heard Amir upstairs, moving around. Jasen pulled a
kitchen knife from the drawer and slipped himself to the stairs,
making sure to touch nothing as he walked. He climbed the stairs
as he heard Amir on the phone.
Amir. No, I would like to schedule an appointment. My VA
benefits should cover it.
Jasen pushed the room door open to find Amir with his back to
him. Jasen smirked. Amir turned around and paused, a crazed look
coming over him.
Jasen. Sup, lil bitch?
Without another word, the two began to fight. Jasen swung the
knife, and Amir dodged it with finesse. They continued back and
forth, the fight spilling out into the hallway and onto the
stairs. Jasen's mind saw red, and he'd hoped Amir's did too. He
knew that in that moment, one of them wouldn't be leaving the
house. And it sure as shit wouldn't be him...
