Leo knocked lightly on the hospital door before popping it open
a crack. He smiled as he seen Lacy lying in the hospital bed.
She grinned when he stepped into the room.
Lacy. Look at you, snazzy!
Leo. You think I look okay?
Lacy. You look great.
Leo. Where's the baby?
Lacy. Amir took him to have a couple of tests run.
Leo pulled up a chair.
Leo. Bout ready to bust up outta this joint?
Lacy. Two more days and I'm free as a bird.
Leo. Sis, I"m nervous.
They looked at each other.
Leo. I ain't even touched a woman since I was 16. I ain't ever
been on a real first date, you know?
Lacy. Where are you going?
Leo. Dinner and a movie. She suggested it.
Lacy. Dinner where?
Leo. Some fancy spot downtown. That's why I'm dressed like this.
Lamar and Liam took me shopping for some "semi-formal" clothes.
Lacy. Leo, look at me.
Leo looked at his sister, his hands shaking out of nerves. She
reached out and grabbed them, smiling.
Lacy. She wouldn't have even wanted to go out with you if you
weren't a good guy. Be yourself. You're great.
Leo smiled and kissed her cheek as Amir walked in with baby
Aeson in his hands.
Amir. Oh shit, it's date night, huh?
Leo. Yup.
Amir. You look good, brother in law.
Leo. Thank you. Man, you look tired.
Lacy. Baby, go home. Get some rest.
Amir. I don't want to leave y'all.
Leo. I'll stay with her until Samone is ready. She had a shift,
so we're leaving from here.
Lacy. And I'll be fine once he leaves, the nurses will come
check on us.
Amir. You sure?
Lacy. Positive.
Amir nodded and kissed Lacy's head before hugging Leo and
leaving out of the room.[/center]

Samone looked at Dominique as she smiled leaning against the
bathroom door while Samone fixed her make up.
Dominique. You look good Samone.
Samone. You think so?
Dominique. Yes.. Your date is gonna think so too..
Samone. You know.. I've never been on a real date... Like.. I've
done double dates with my friends but.. Never one on one with a
guy I kinda like..
Dominique. Awww. Well. All you have to do is be yourself..
You're a really sweet girl..
Samone smiled slightly then looked in the mirror at herself. She
was excited, but she was also very nervous.
Dominique. Is he picking you up from here?
Samone nodded.
Samone. I think he's already here in his sister's room..
Dominique. Oh. Okay.. Well you look ready.. Are you ready?
Samone took another look at herself in the mirror and smiled
then nodded
Samone. I am..
Dominique. Okay.. good.
Samone looked over at Dominique as Dominique smiled at her.. The
two exited the bathroom and they hugged. Dominique's beeper went
off and then she sighed after checking it.
Dominique. I gotta go.. But have a good time. Let me know if you
need anything.
Samone. Okay..
... After a few moments, Samone knocked on Lacy's door and she
heard "Come in" from the otherside.
She walked into the room with smiling faces.
Samone. Hey yall

Lacy. Hey. Oooh, you look so pretty.
Leo. You're beautiful.
They stared at each other and smiled.
Samone. You look great, too.
Leo. You ready?
Samone. Yeah. I have to stop at the nurse's station and clock
out, but I'm ready.
Leo. Lace, you gon' be good?
Lacy. I'm getting some sleep, finally.
Leo. Call me if you need something, yo. I'm serious.
Lacy. Boy, get outta here.
Leo kissed her cheek and smiled, walking out of the hospital
room with Samone.
Samone. I love the bond you have with her.
Leo. First sibling I met, and she stood up for me like nobody
else ever has. Plus Aeson is adorable. Gotta be nice to the
mothers of adorable ass babies, that's the rule.
Samone laughed as she pressed the elevator call button.
Leo. So, this place we going to? What kinda food is it?
Samone. Italian.
Leo. Like pizza Italian or me mispronouncing words Italian?
Samone. Definitely the latter. I got you, though. The job has
taken us there a few times, I know what's good.
Leo. I'ma let you handle that then.
They stepped onto the elevator and continued their small talk...
...Later, Leo was shaking his head as he took his final bite of
Chicken Parmesan.
Leo. Listen...this was the best damn food, yo. Iono how you knew
I would love this, but I wanna marry this food. [/center]

Samone smiled.
Samone. It is really good. I'm glad you liked it..
He smiled over at her as she smiled back at him. Although she
wasn't really sure what to expect, she was having a good time,
and he made her feel comfortable too.
Samone. Umm. I'm gonna run to the restroom..
Leo nodded and Samone removed herself from the table. Once she
made it inside of the restroom she looked at her phone that she
had put on silent. She had a missed call from Elva her Foster
mom, and 3 from her Foster dad Rick. She called Elva back and
waited for a few moments.
Elva. Samone?
Samone. I was calling you back..
Elva. Oh. I was just checking on you... How's your date going?
Samone. It's good. Im having a good time...
Elva. Oh. That's good. What time are you coming home?
Samone. Im not sure... After the movie.. A little after midnight
maybe?
Elva. Okay.. I'll leave the top lock off for you.
Samone. Thanks.. Hey.. Do you know what Rick wanted?
Elva. Na.. Probably nothing.. You know he always wants to check
on you..
Samone nodded.
Samone. Okay.. Well. I gotta go..
Elva. Alright.. I'll see you..
Samone hung up and quickly used the restroom to freshen up. Just
as she made it back to the table the waitress was walking off.
Leo. You ready?
Samone nodded and they made their way out of the restaurant and
began walking down the strip to the theatre. Samone held onto
Leo's arm as they enjoyed the cool breeze.
Samone. I love this weather.. Miss Marlene would toss us all in
the pickup and take us fishing with her.
Leo. Who is Miss Marlene?
Samone. She was my 2nd foster mother..
Leo. How'd you end up leaving her?
Samone. She died of lung cancer...
Leo. Oh yeah? My uncle has that now..
Samone. I'll pray that he beats it...
Leo. Thank you... This weather is kinda coo though.. Everything
in San Fierro was hot... It got a little cool at night, but that
aint like this..
Samone smiled slightly as they approached the window for the
tickets.
TicketGuy. What can I get for the couple?
They both looked at the movies showing.
Samone. I'm actually cool with anything.. You pick..

Leo looked at the list of movies that were playing. Superheroes
and Tyler Perry were dominating the box office and he sighed,
shaking his head.
Leo. I don't want to look at none of these, honestly.
Samone. None of 'em?
Leo. None.
He chuckled and looked across the street, seeing a young couple
walking into a bar.
Leo. You want to go shoot pool?
Samone. Sounds fine with me.
Leo escorted her off, making their way across the street. Music
blared onto the street before the door even opened. Leo opened
the door for Samone and once they stepped in and looked around,
he smiled.
Leo. Shit rowdy as hell.
Samone. Just how you like it, huh?
Leo. Possibly.
He laughed and held her hand as they walked to an empty pool
table.
Leo. You play pool on the regular?
Samone. I'm nice with it. What about you?
Leo. I ain't played in years, honestly. Ain't got a lot of time
for that in prison.
Leo began collecting all of the pool balls.
Samone. Why were you locked up?
Leo. Drug charge. They ran in my mama's house and found my shit.
Samone. How old were you?
Leo. 16. They ain't care, though. I had enough to be charged as
an adult.
Samone. Damn. How does it feel being out?
Leo. Good enough that I ain't ever going back, man.
He shook his head as Samone grabbed two pool cues.
Leo. Saw some shit in there nobody should see, especially not a
teenager.
Samone. I can only imagine.
Leo. I feel like I got reasons to be out now, though. My new
found family, me and my mama talking again. I actually got a
cousin bout to have a baby, too.
Samone. Really?
He nodded with a smile.
Leo. Two new babies in my life, you know?
Samone. You like kids?
Leo. Love them. If I'm lucky, I'm gon' have a gang of
kids.[/center]

Samone smiled at him.
Samone. Honestly. I want a big family too... Like. Growing up
with so many foster siblings, I could see myself with like 4
kids at least..
Leo. Really?
Samone nodded.
Samone. Yeahh. There's nothing like a house full of love..
Leo nodded.
Leo. I agree..
Leo accepted his pool stick from Samone, and he lifted the rack
from the balls so she could break. She bent down and focused,
and she could feel his eyes watching her frame. She glanced over
at him then they met eyes. .THey smiled at each other then she
took her shot.
She hit the center ball knocking the rest loose. The balls all
broke up, but nothing went in..
Samone. Im apparently rusty too..
Leo. Okay. This game will be for warming up..
Samone. Okay.. Good..
Leo took his shot and knocked a solid ball in.
Samone. That was a good shot..
Leo. Thank you..
Samone took her shot as well and knocked her stripe ball in and
one of his solid balls.
Samone. Damn... That was too hard..
Leo smiled at her and took another shot where he barely touched
the white ball..
Leo. Ahh. It slipped... You want something to drink?
Samone. Umm. Yeah.. A coke is fine..
Leo nodded and made his way over to the bar while she sorted out
her next shot. While she was staring at the table, she'd
realized how comfortable she had gotten with Leo.. She was glad
that she agreed to this date, and even though she was originally
nervous, he made her feel safe with him, and that was really
important to her.

Leo leaned on the bar with a smile.
Leo. Two cokes, please.
He checked his phone when he felt it vibrate and smiled.
Lacy.:. Everything okay?
Leo.:. Perfect.
He stuffed his phone back into his jeans when the bartender sat
the drinks in front of him. He took them and made his way back
to the pool table.
Leo. You been cheating?
Samone. Do I look like a cheater?
Leo. You got sneaky eyes.
They laughed and sipped their sodas before sitting them down.
Samone. Can I ask you something?
Leo. Of course?
Samone. You picked up that expensive dinner...you paid for these
sodas...what exactly do you do for work?
Leo laughed.
Leo. Right now, nothing. Living off money I had put away years
ago.
Samone. What do you want to do?
Leo. Honestly, I don't know. I liked performing when I was a
kid.
Samone. Performing?
Leo. I used to sing a little bit.
Samone. Uh oh, let me hear something.
Leo blushed and chuckled.
Leo. Some other time. Maybe on the 3rd or 4th date.
Samone. Look at you. What makes you think you're getting past
this one?
Leo. I saw how you was looking at me at dinner.
Samone laughed.
Samone. Excuse you?!
Leo. I peeped it. Don't worry.
Samone. You wouldn't have seen me looking at you if you wasn't
looking at me.
Leo paused.
Leo. Touche.
They laughed.
Leo. How can I not look at you, though? You're gorgeous,
Samone.[/center]

Samone felt her face flush with red as she felt slightly
embarrassed for a moment, but she couldn't hide her smile.
Samone. Thank you..
Leo smiled at back at her as they stared at each other for a
moment. She eventually broke eye contact and took another shot.
That time she hit the ball in and got a second try.
... Nearing the end of their third game she laughed as Leo shook
his head.
Leo. You know I'm gonna win right..
Samone. No you're not..
Leo. Watch.... The 8 ball is going in that pocket..
Samone. No it's not...
He glanced at her with a smile as she smiled back then he took
his shot..
The ball bounced off the side of the table and sure enough the 8
ball went in, but the white ball scratched too.
Samone. Damnit...
Leo looked up at her as she smiled at him.
Leo. I cant believe I did that...
Samone. Too hard..
Leo nodded and shook his head.
Leo. You had the best outta 3 then.. You win..
They both sat their pool sticks on the table and took one last
sip of their soda, then they made their way out of the bar. She
held onto his arm again while they walked down the sidewalk to
his car.
Leo. You really got some skills though...
Samone smiled at him.
Samone. Thank you.. One of my siblings from Chicago taught me
how to play..
Leo. That's wassup..
Once they got back to the car they both paused..
Leo. So since you won.. What do you want?
Samone. Ummm.. A kiss?
Leo. You want a kiss from me?
Samone took his head in her hands and gently pulled his face to
hers. They pressed their lips together and she felt his arms
find her waist. He pulled her into him as his tongue slid into
her mouth. She paused for a moment and pulled back looking at
him. He paused for a moment with her not knowing if tongue was
too much.. He got his answer when she kissed him again slipping
her tongue into his.
He gripped her tighter and she felt her lady parts get excited
as their kiss grew in intensity. She inhaled his scent while
they kissed. They eventually came to a stop and he rested his
forehead on hers.
Samone. I really gotta get home..
Leo. Okay..
Leo opened her door for her and she slid into the car then he
got in on the drivers side..
Moments later he was pulling up to her house, and it looked like
all the lights were out.
Samone. I hope everyone is sleep..
She looked over at Leo who was already looking at her.
Samone. Thank you for the night.. I really had a good time..
Leo. I'm glad.. I did too though... We're gonna do this again
right?
Samone nodded but she saw Leo's eyes shift to behind her, and
she decided to look too. She sighed when she saw her foster dad
Rick standing in the doorway.
Samone. I gotta go. I'll see you later..
Samone rushed out of the car without another word. She looked
down at her watch and saw it was going on 1:30am. "Oh God.." She
could see in his face he was pissed off, so she tried to brace
herself for him. As she went through the door she glanced back
and saw Leo was still watching. Rick stared for a few more
moments in the doorway before shutting the door...
