Jada stood on the catwalk of SHOTS, the hottest night club in
Aventura, with a glass of champagne in her hand. The walls
thumped from the bass of whatever hip hop the DJ was spinning.
The dance floor was alive with the young and sexy, and VIP was
filled with the who's who of the city. She smirked to herself.
All of her hard work was coming to fruition. Before she could
walk back to her office, the DJ cut in over the beat.
DJ. I see you up there, boss lady! Shout out to the one and only
Jada August, make some noise, y'all!
The crowd went crazy and Jada tipped her glass with a smile
before making her way back to her office. When she walked
inside, she smiled at the sight of her silent partner, Cassius.
Jada. Well, well, what a surprise. I wasn't sure you'd make it.
Cash. You know me better than that, Jada.
Jada. I also know that you wouldn't be here unless there was a
reason. What's up?
Cash. I've got a new guy washing money for me. You have a
connection to him.
Jada. Do I?
Cash. Jerome Richards.
Jada stared at Cash before shrugging.
Jada. Doesn't ring a bell.
Cash. He's dating your cousin, Amiya Greer.
Jada sighed. She hadn't spoken to most of her family in years,
but no one could forget the infamous Blu and Money, as well as
their kids.
Cash. Is she going to be a problem?
Jada. I haven't spoken to her in over a decade, Cash, I wouldn't
be able to tell you honestly.
Cash. Family feud?
Jada. Most of my family disowned me. The ones that didn't
outright disown me just sort of forgot about me, including my
cousins.
Cash. You know what has to happen if she causes issues, right?
Jada looked at Cash, finishing off her drink.
Cash. I'm only giving you the courtesy because she's your
family, Jada.
Jada. I'll reach out to her and keep her out of the loop, okay?
Cash rose from his seat and walked to Jada.
Cash. Good girl...congratulations on the club. Money good?
Jada. Money's great.
Cash. Get back in good with the family. Because if she fucks up
my business, Marcus and Monica are going to be burying more than
a long time friend...
Cash gave Jada a chill that crept up her spine as he walked out
of the room. Once her office door shut, she quickly poured
herself a stiffer drink than champagne and downed it. She
grabbed her phone and went to Instagram, spending a few minutes
tracking down her cousin's profile and hitting the follow
button. Jada hadn't been in touch with her family in years, and
she hated the thought of reconnecting for the reasons she was.
But, she'd rather peace be kept than anymore blood be on her
hands...
