The WORLDBUILDING THREAD

Okay, so it's just about high time we started cracking our
knuckles and getting on with this rp nonsense, right?
I figured the first step we could take on our new forum was to
make a new world to go along with it! Or a new city at least.
It's a start.
So basically how this is gonna work is this thread will be used
to create a new 'hub' city for us, from scratch. This means that
if anyone has ANY ideas for locations or names or whatever, big
or small, that you want to attribute to our new city, just shove
them into this thread. Don't worry about fleshing everything out
right away, if you want to jot down a simple idea that's totally
fine too, just remember to come back and edit and expand upon
your posts if in future roleplays any new facts about your
locations come to light. Editing your ideas in this thread is
Highly Recommended so we can all be on the same page about what
our city features.
I'm gonna jot down a few ideas about a location right here and
now, just to provide an example of what I'm thinking of, but
don't feel you have to follow my style or guidelines, this place
is here so you guys can throw out any and all ideas you want!
Oh, and if you have any additions you'd like to make to
locations other people have come up with then don't be afraid to
toss those out too! At some point I might create a masterpost of
all known locations with a little summary of their known perks
and quirks but we can worry about that another time. For now
let's get creative!!!!
Nuzzled in the far south-west corner of [as of yet unnamed
city], past the skyscrapers and the shopping centres and the
lights that stay on all night, rests a sprawling public park.
This park [which also still lacks a name] is a haven to weary
hustler, bustlers and buskers who need a break from the world of
the concrete and steel. The park is an excellent place to relax
and is perfect for picnics, with benches and tables dotting wide
open fields, and dense pockets of trees for those seeking shade.
There are pathways for dog-walkers and cyclists, paddocks for
privately owned horses, a secluded golfing range, and even a
small play area for children, including a basketball court and a
makeshift football [soccer] field. The river which runs through
[unnamed city] makes an appearance here too, in the form of a
lovely little lake, perfect for fishermen.
[unnamed park] isn’t all sunshine and roses though. Littering is
unfortunately a serious problem, and the local wildlife has
suffered for it. You would be hard pressed to find more than the
occasional pigeon or squirrel above the water, and while fish
are still present in the lake, fishermen have reportedly been
having better luck catching shopping trolleys. Night-time visits
are generally ill-advised too, as the park then becomes the
territory of the infamous [unnamed biker gang], who have been
terrorizing locals for ages. Also, every year in September a
carnival sets itself up in the middle of the park for a whole
month. And that’s always annoying, because nobody likes those
carnival folk.
And finally, the last unsightly blemish to the park lurks in the
overgrown forest at the southern perimeter, bordering the edge
of the city limits, in the form of an old cathedral, and
graveyard. This cathedral, once the pride of [unnamed city] some
ages past, has become a disgrace to the public. After the old
archdeacon became involved in an unfortunate [and unnamed]
accident last year, the cathedral and its grounds fell swiftly
into disrepair; visitors dwindled, the forest became mangled and
inhospitable, even the sky around the cathedral seems to loom
dark and heavy. Apparently the grounds are still occupied, but
unfortunately its current tenants are a mystery, as nobody who
has ventured in there recently, has ever, reportedly, come back
out.
