       Sydora Reynalds
"I suppose a small detour wouldn't hurt, the uneven bars will be
there all night." She tossed the football between her hands,
biting her lip. "Though, I'm not entirely sure what to do with
this." She waved the ball at him.
"Well that's easy." He moved over to her and she fought the urge
to stumble backwards as he rested his hand on the football.
Instead, she quirked an eyebrow and attempted to look unfazed.
"Oh, is it?" she prompted, glancing down at the ball.
"You're going to take this ball, put it in that holder, and kick
it through that goal," he gestured, with the hand that wasn't
resting on her shoulder, toward something in the ground that she
wasn't entirely sure what it was. "But, uh, before that you have
to introduce yourself. Strangers don't make a team." He moved
his hand from her shoulder and offered it to her. "My name's
       Dayton."
"Sydora," she responded, shaking his hand before glancing back
down at the ball. "So, wait, you want me to kick this ball
through that thing in these shoes?" She gestured toward her
boots, the heels sinking into the ground just a bit. She could
say no if she wanted to, she knew she could, but she wasn't
entirely sure that she didn't want to try. She shrugged again
and cocked her head to the side.
"Okay. Show me again and I'll give it a try."

"Pretty much yeah," he said going to the ball holder and setting
       it into the ground.
"Okay. Show me again and I'll give it a try."
Dayton took another football from the satchel and put it into
the holder. He stood up and turned to look at her, then gestured
for her to come over to the ball holder. It wasn't too difficult
to teach someone how to kick, the hard part was just kicking it
high enough to get over the bar. He was pretty sure she could
kick it high enough though. Who knows maybe the heels would
       help.
"Nah, man. You're gonna do it this time. It's easy. Come over
here so I can show you how to kick the ball, and then we'll work
       from there."

"Okay. Show me again and I'll give it a try." She said, holding
the ball out to him. Dayton removed another ball from the bag
and put it on the thingy in the ground before motioning for her
       to come over.
"Nah, man. You're gonna do it this time. It's easy. Come over

in her hand for a long moment.
"Yeah, okay." she responded after a bit, sauntering over to
       stand by him. "Teach me."

Dayton was smiling again as he walked over to stand a few feet
       away from the ball holder.
"Okay, now you're not gonna be this close, but just about here.
You're going to run to the football. Move your foot back and
kick the ball as hard as you can forward." Dayton took a few
long strides to the ball, threw his right leg back and on the
last step kicked the ball hard enough so it flew into the air.
It did several flips before hitting one of the bars on the side
of the goal, bouncing off, dropping just behind the goal.
"Okay, well, try and aim it a little bit towards the center, but
the goal is big enough where it should go through fine. You just
have to kick it hard enough upwards to get the momentum...does
       that make sense?"

"Yeah, okay." she responded after a bit, sauntering over to
stand by him. "Teach me." Dayton had a very attractive smile,
Sydora noticed as her companion moved back over to stand by
       where the ball was resting.
"Okay, now you're not gonna be this close, but just about here.

"Honestly? Not even a bit." she responded with a soft laugh.
"But I will still give it a try." She attempted to place the
ball in the same place he had before lining herself up and
taking several large strides backwards. She took a deep breath
and mimicked the boys movements, wincing a bit as the toe of her
boots smacks against the ball and sends it flying to the center
of the metal structure, just a few inches shy of going through
       the goal.
"Shit." She mumbled, frowning and looking over at him. "Can I
       try again?"

"But I will still give it a try." She attempted to place the
ball in the same place he had before lining herself up and
taking several large strides backwards. She kicked the ball hard
enough, but it just barely missed the goal.
"That was really great for your first try. A lot of people
usually just kick it along the ground."
"Shit." She mumbled, frowning and looking over at him. "Can I
       try again?"
"As many times as you want. One sec." He grabbed another ball
from the satchel, and went over to the ball holder setting it
up. As he positioned the ball correctly he kept talking.
"Maybe this will help. I usually tell my little brothers to
pretend that the ball is a monster. You know like, hiding under
their bed or in their closet kind of monster." He stood up and
stepped away from the football so he wouldn't get hit on
       accident.
"All you have to do is pretend that you're kicking the monster
as far away as you can. Back into the sky where it can't mess
with you anymore. Does that help?" He crossed his arms over his
chest and rolled his shoulders a little.

that the ball is a monster. You know like, hiding under their

settled in the pit of her stomach before exploding like a
grenade. Dayton moved back and out of her way.
"All you have to do is pretend that you're kicking the monster
as far away as you can. Back into the sky where it can't mess
with you anymore. Does that help?" There was a glint in her
eyes, a quick flash of what was barricaded behind the wall that
       she hand built up.
"Why didn't you say that in the first place?" she responded,
eyes narrowing as she focused on the ball. And suddenly it was a
ball anymore, it was a black mass of whispers and stolen
virtues. It was her nightmares crumpled and condensed until it
fit in the form of a football. She moved back, sucking in a deep
breath and listening to the voices swirling around in her head.
That's it baby. Be loud for me. Just like that. You know you
want it. And then she was sprinting forward, kicking the ball
with as much force as he pent up energy could generate. She
didn't see where the ball went, but she though she heard it land
with a loud thump somewhere on the field. She caught a glimpse
of another ball, one that looked distinctly like Trent's face.
"One more time?" she ground out, trying to hide the anger that
       was bubbling in her chest.

He watched the ball soar across the field, through the goal and
hit the top of the back fence hard before toppling to the other
       side.
"Holy shit that was just!!! Holy shit man! You got a good kick."
He was grinning and laughing a little turning to her.
"One more time?" she ground out.
"Uh,yeah sure." He was confused at the mood change, but he could
roll with it. Grabbing another ball from the satchel he set up
the football again like last time. Straightened the holder, set
the football in, and stepped away.
"I think you've gotten the hang of this faster than anybody
else. Think about playing football? Kickers are hard to find,
but they usually decide the win or loss of the game."

       Sydora Reynalds
She heard the ball hit the ground with thump somewhere on the
field. Her heart was racing and her chest heaving a bit, which
she would have worried about if it wasn't a fair assumption that
it was due to the power behind the kick.
"Holy shit that was just!!! Holy shit man! You got a good kick."
Dayton commented. She could hear the smile, the surprise in this
voice but she couldn't really bring herself to care, there was a
ball in that bag that look distinctly like Trent and she needed
to get her hands, and heels, on it.
"One more time?" she ground out. Her accent was rearing its
head, coating her words in the sticky sweet that sharpened her
       consonants like a knife.
"Uh,yeah sure." She didn't care what he had to say, she just
wanted him to place the ball and get his ass out of her way,
which he did. Her blood was boiling, her head spinning and a
nasty feeling clawing at her insides. She repeated her actions
as before, taking sick pleasure in the way the ball thudded and
       bounced on the ground.
"I think you've gotten the hang of this faster than anybody
else. Think about playing football? Kickers are hard to find,
but they usually decide the win or loss of the game." The
roaring of blood in her ears calm and she mask slid back into
place, painted smirk tugging at she lips.
"Thanks, but I'm no football player." she shrugged and gestured
to her chest. "I'm pretty sure these disqualify me anyway. But,
again, thanks. I could always return the favor if you feeling
like learning how to fling your body around a couple of bars and
land on your feet without breaking anything. Unless you can
already do that, then I would pay good money to watch." She
winked and stepped away from the thingy he put the balls on.

He chuckled nervously and said,"Thanks but no thanks. I think
I'll leave that kind of thing to the professionals. I'm the
neanderthal type that can just toss a ball around and get it
through hoops. I appreciate the offer though."
Dayton looked over past the goal and all the scattered balls
that were around it. He probably needed to go grab those if he
wanted to get his school ID back. He looked back at Sydora and
smiled when an idea hatched into his head.
"I guess you're still heading to the gym then? Kinda sucks that
I'll be left here...all...alone,"he mockingly grabbed his shirt
and turning his face to the ground and looking dramatically
       crest fallen.
