Chevy Dawsom
"So here's another day, I'll spend away from you..." Chevy sang
quietly, bobbing his head to the music that was blasting through
his earphones and he moved across the Quad. Campus was buzzing
all around him, car doors slamming and students swearing as
precious items tumbled out of overloaded trunks. He twirled in a
circle, tails of his leather coat whirling around his thighs as
he danced over to the fountain, a few fallen leaves crunching
under his thickly soled boots.
Of all the places on the large campus, the fountain was Chevy's
favorite... though he preferred it earlier in the morning when
the sun was just peering over the dorm buildings, deciding
whether or not it wanted to hide in the clouds that morning or
not. He always dreaded the impending winter, when fountain would
have a tarp draped over it, hiding its beauty under the
pretenses of protecting it from the frost the bit at everyone's
noses. But winter was months away, many sunsets and rising that
he would spend curled up on the cement that encircle the
tinkling water. Shaking his head a bit, he lowered himself onto
the edge of the fountain dipping his fingers into the pool of
water and smiling slightly. A sense of home washed over him,
curling and settling in his stomach as he stared intently at the
rippling surface that lapped at his fingers.

Aria Ramsey
Aria bounced a little as she walked along, humming a song by
Aimee Allen 'Change in weather'.
It suited, the way her day had been. She'd had a weird day.
Aria had moved her stuff into her dorm room early, and had spent
the rest of the morning seeing all sorts of people and things,
her breakfast had been shared with her mother on a bench on
campus, watching people rush about moving their stuff in and
betting on who would drop something and who wouldn't.
But now she was headed to the Quad on campus for lunch with
her "brother" Chevy, with a song in her heart and on her lips, a
messenger bag slung over her shoulder, and a bag full of
burgers, chili fries, grease, and general unhealthiness clutched
tightly in one hand. She couldn't have been happier. While he
may not have been her brother by blood, he might as well have
been by how her mom treated him. Her mother adored him, and took
care of him and treated him like the son she didn't have, and
loved having him around despite certain ornery traits the boy
had gotten from his strange childhood. She randomly switched
from humming to singing the song full out, loudly and
confidently. A few people looked at her like she was being
weird, but she just smiled as she sang and waved her fingers at
them happily.
At this point she felt good enough to leave it at that
without more commentary.
Aria was almost to the Quad, and soon she saw Chevy
sitting on the edge of the fountain, wearing as much leather,
eyeliner, and such as he usually did, which had been the basis
Aria had used when her mother had objected to her wearing much
makeup, and oddly enough, Serina let her.
She finished her song shortly, then looked at Chevy and
smiled broadly.
"Hellooo, don't we look lovely today? I brought you a multitude
of unhealthy and amazing food stuffs for lunch!" She said
dropping down on the side of the fountain beside him and laying
her messenger bag on the leaves beside her feet. "So, how goes
it with moving in Chevy?" She said, pulling out the food she'd
brought and distributing it. "Careful, I think it's still a bit
hot." She said, still digging through the bag.
"Do you want a fork with the chili fries, or just a lot of
napkins?" Aria laughed, holding up a fork in one hand and a
rather large handful of napkins in the other, her wide smile
spreading to her green eyes. "'Member Chevy, choose wisely!" She
said ominously, twitching one eyebrow, then bending over with
laughter again.

Chevy Dawsom
Chevy looked up, sensing another presence and praying that it
wasn't a stray freshman, before allowing a smile to tug at the
corner of his lips as his eyes met Aria's. He shook off his wet
fingers and tugged his earphones out of his ears, letting them
dangling around his neck.
"Hellooo, don't we look lovely today? I brought you a multitude
of unhealthy and amazing food stuffs for lunch!" she greeted
dropping down into place next to him.
"Don't I always?" he inquired, batting his eyelashes at her
playfully and reaching out for the food with a pout playing his
lips. He watched her closely, admiring the curved and slope of
her body as she dropped her messenger back in the leaves. His
gaze honed in on her hands as she placed the food out in front
of him, her lips forming words that he was pretty sure he was
supposed to be listening to. There was something about her, the
way her lips formed certain words, the way she held herself, the
tug and pull of the tendons in her arm as she extended it to
distribute the meal; an uncomfortable feeling settled in his
stomach as he recalled where he'd seen those movements, he
watched himself move in the same graceful manner, on the grainy
videos that Phoenix had taken of him as Chevelle. How could
someone he barely knew, someone who didn't share his blood, be
so much more like him than his actual family?
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" he asked, blinking a few times.
Aria was digging through her bag before holding up a fork and
wad of napkins to him, clearly asking him to pick one. He
slipped the fork from her fingers and mumbled out a 'thanks'.
Some part of him felt guilt for not listening, he was sure that
he hadn't responded properly and she would read him as cold and
distant, but he couldn't shake the uncomfortable tingling that
had settled at the base of his spine.
It wasn't fair. Why could he look so much like her, move so much
like her, yet he couldn't share her blood? Sure, he father was
bat-shit-crazy, but on some level, he cared. And her mom, god,
her mom was attentive and strong and there. But he wasn't
allowed to have that. Whatever deity that people chose to
worship, whatever God or Buddha or fairy, chose to put him
through hell and back before he earned the right to be happy. He
had to be struck, to be pawned off to butlers and nannies, to be
ridiculed and mocked by his own parents, he had to fear for his
life in his own home before he was permitted to leave for good.
And then he was hit by a thought that made his stomach clench
and his eyes burn, his blood boiling; he hadn't been allowed
that yet, nothing was set in stone and it could all slip away in
a matter of minutes.

"Don't I always?" he inquired, batting his eyelashes at her

painted hand at him, teasing him. "Of course you do, that was
rhetorical, lovely." She gave him a wide smile, then turned to
drop her bag onto the grass. She then turned her attention to
distributing the food. She smiled a little and looked up at him
as she bent slightly over at her food, she could feel his gaze,
and wondered what the boy was thinking. "Hm? What?" She laughed
a little as she said it.
She dug through the bag a bit more, waiting for a response
for a second, then continuing.
"Do you want a fork with the chili fries, or just a lot of

He didn't reply for a second, and her smile faded into a
concerned frown. "What's the matter?"
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" he asked, blinking a few times.
She sighed.
"Nothing. It wouldn't be funny out of context." She smiled a
little sadly at him, almost as though hearing things in context
was highly important, even though in this case she'd only been
teasing him about how to eat his food. He slipped the fork from
her fingers and mumbled out a 'thanks'.
Aria looked at him for a moment, then heaved a heavy sigh
and kicked her feet forwards, leaning her palms heavily against
the rim of the fountain as she did so.
"Hmm, I'm sooooo hungry!" She grabbed her food and took a
bite. "I prooobably shouldn't fill up too much though, I am
having dinner with my Faaather later." She raised her eyebrows
and smiled at Chevy. "Hoping it goes well, I hate when we have
dinners that end in me upsetting him, it makes things kind of
weird." She continued eating her burger for a minute, then
reached into her backpack to pull out two bottles.
"Oops, almost forgot I'd gotten you a soda!" She handed
Chevy his, then opened hers and took a long drink. Aria tapped
her foot to the rhythm of the song she'd been singing earlier
while she ate.
Chevy seemed a bit tense, and maybe even a little upset. "You
'kay?"

"I'm sorry, what did you say?" Chevy asked, blinking over at his
companion for a moment, causing the girls to sigh heavily.
"Nothing. It wouldn't be funny out of context." she responded,
smiling at him sadly. He poked at his fries before picking at
his burger, his eyes trained on the food rather than girl across
from him. "Hmm, I'm sooooo hungry! I prooobably shouldn't fill
up too much though, I am having dinner with my Faaather later.
Hoping it goes well, I hate when we have dinners that end in me
upsetting him, it makes things kind of weird." He glanced up,
listening to her speak quietly.
"That'll be interesting," he offered half-heartedly, smiling
over at her weakly. His eyes dropped back down to his food, only
looking up when Aria slid a bottle of soda into his hand.
"You 'kay?" she asked him, looking a bit worried. Chevy set down
his food, shaking his head just slightly and dipping his fingers
back into the pool of water.
"We look a like, you know." he commented suddenly, "Like we
could be related. No one would ever question it." He paused and
lifted his fingers from the water, watch the liquid drip back
down. "But we aren't. You grew up with this great mom who loves
you unconditionally and a dad who would kill for you. And I got
a mom who calls me Jack or Morgan half of the time and a dad
who'd rather kill me than kill for me." He swallowed hard and
glanced up at her briefly. "Its ironic, isn't it?"

"That'll be interesting," He said, looking at Aria with what
she called a 'I'm-just-smiling-to-be-polite' sort of smile. His
eyes dropped back down to his food, only looking up when Aria

"You 'kay?" she asked him, looking a bit worried. Chevy set

blinked and looked at him blankly for a moment.
"Um, I guess so. Well, now that you mention it... Yeah."
"Like we could be related. No one would ever question it." He

and pulled her legs up onto the edge of the fountain, hugging
her knees very tightly so as to try and not fall in.
"... No, Chevy. I don't think it's ironic." She looked at
him, her light green eyes a little sad. "I think it's just how
life works. It's horrible, and awful. And more things I can't
begin to describe. It's not easy for you. I know that, so I try
to pretend they don't exist. I've come to the point when I
really think that those people aren't really your parents.
They're just people who had you for awhile, and they simply
don't deserve you. You know, my life isn't all it's cracked up
to be either. Sure I've got it pretty good when you say it like
that, but when you look from my point of view, it's not exactly
a picnic. Yeah, my Dad probably would kill for me. Depending on
your definition of 'for me'. Do you realize I've never had a
boyfriend? And until such time as he dies I won't. And even then
I bet he'll leave someone the job of shooting anyone I try to
date. Probably someone he's already paying to watch over me. I
love the man, but he drives me crazy. He's why I do so well in
school. Because I have to live up to him. And yeah, my Mom is
great. She loves me, she works hard, and even though I know she
doesn't feel very comfortable around Dad anymore, she deals with
him so she can take care of me. But the woman practically
smothers me. Which may be the opposite of your mom, but remember
Chevy, everyone's hell is their own."
Aria dropped her feet back to the ground and leaned towards
Chevy. "Remember, the moment you say the word, Mom and I are
always going to be there to help you. No matter what. And don't
forget you have Phoenix and his family. Mama Joss might kill for
you." Aria chuckled. "That woman... And don't you ever forget
that I love you, big brother." Aria leaned forward to drop a
kiss his cheek, then smirked a little at him. "You're stuck with
me forever, pal."
OOC EDIT: This interaction is clooooosed!

Trent Fisher
After Zinnia decided she was too cool (or possibly embarrassed)
to talk with him any more, Trent picked up his lunch from the
cafeteria and brought it outside. He sat next to the fountain,
his back to the water, and unwrapped the cafeteria burger. Sure
it wasn't a Burgersmith or anything, but it was meat--
supposedly. He took a large bite of it and pulled out his
notebook of graph paper. Better to knock out the homework now --
it would take fifteen minutes max-- than to have it later
tonight. He wouldn't be working on it tonight, and he was
determined to keep the 4.0 he'd held for the last year and a
half. Trent had plenty of better things to do tonight besides
homework, like that blond chick from trig.
So, better to get the work done now. With one hand he ate the
burger and with the other, he plotted X and Y intercepts. Yeah,
it was gonna take less than 15 minutes. This was too easy.

Alexandria Heffernan
Today she shouldn't have been lost. Yes, it was a new campus,
but she'd been here a few weeks already. She should know where
she was going and how to get there. She'd gotten her lunch out
of the cafeteria and had been trying to find the dorms again
(they were on the other side of the Quad, right?). But she'd
gotten to the Quad and realized her mistake.
Instead of huffing in frustration, though, she decided to change
her destination to the fountain with the cute guy and went to
sit down next to him, a polite distance away. He was clearly
doing homework when she arrived, so she put her bag on the
ground and ate her lunch, or tried to.
She kept eyeing his progress, wondering when it would be polite
to talk to him. He looked like he knew his way around, and she
needed to get to the track field at some point today too. Maybe
he could show her the way.
Finally, she gave up on both lunch and waiting, packed it up as
best she could, and introduced herself to her somewhat handsome
neighbor.
"Hi, I'm Alexandria. And being new here, I'm still kind of lost.
Could you help me out at all?"
She wished she had a better sense of direction.

[ooc: That moment when you have a highly flirtatious character
but you've never flirted once in your life. omg. Sorry for the

Trent Fisher
Yeah, I get it, it's another parabola. Another quadratic
equation. What impressive education we're paying for here, Trent
thought to himself as he disinterestedly connected the dots on
his graphs. If they're gonna charge an arm and a leg for
tuition, they could at least challenge us a bit.
Well, at least it wouldn't take long. He didn't want to waste
time on it any more than he had to, especially since he'd just
been joined --however loosely-- by a very pretty brunette girl.
And she didn't radiate ice like Zinnia (though he still wanted
to work on that. A side project of sorts.). He decided that he
could fudge the last couple of problems and put the work away.
It seemed she took the signal, because the girl moved to speak
to him. "Hi, I'm Alexandria. And being new here, I'm still kind
of lost. Could you help me out at all?"
He turned to her, giving her his full attention. A smile graced
his face. "Alexandria," he repeated, imprinting her name in his
mind. "Nice to meet you, Alexandria. I'm Trent, and I can most
certainly help out a lovely girl such as yourself." He rested
his elbow on his knees, chin in his hand as he leaned forward
just a bit. "How may I be of service?"
