       Potter Westing
Potter sat with his back pressed against a tree, bent knees
supporting the notebook that he was scribbling in. His
management textbook was laying open next to him on the grass,
his backpack resting against his calves. His phone buzzes and
glances over it briefly. Melicent. Always Melicent. He rolled
his eyes and dropped his phone in to the open zipper of his
backpack so that it wouldn't bother him again. He pushed his
glasses up a bit as he turned back to his text.
A soft breeze rustled the pages of the open book and ruffled his
hair. The sun was mostly hidden behind grayish clouds that
practically insured a light rain, which meant that most students
had taken to dorms, peering out the window as they studied from
the dry confines of their rooms. He fished his iPod out of his
backpack and slipped his ear buds into his ears, leaning his
head back against the tree, strands of blond hair catching on
       the bark.
I will save you, everytime you need a rescue. When there's no
stars at night, i'll stay until the sun shines He tapped one
foot to the beat, mouthing along to the words and nudging his
backpack over with his knee when it vibrates. He loved his
sister very much and he would jump in front of a bullet for her,
but he was tired of running her lines with her and singing the
backups for her audition song. She never asked if he was free,
just demanded his presence. His backpack vibrated again and he
let out a loud groan, digging his phone out and unlocking the
       screen. 3 new texts.
       From Mel:
Chekhov Hall. Come at once if convenient. MW
       From Mel:
       If inconvenient come anyway. MW
       From Mel:
Seriously, where are you? Auditions are tomorrow, get your ass
       over here.
He locked his phone again, about to toss it back in his bag when
it buzzed and lit up again.
       From Mel:
You are in so much trouble, Potter. If I don't get the part, it
is all your fault, I hope you know that. I will never speak to
       you again.
He laughed and shot back a quick text. Promise?

       Zinnia Natter
She had finally taken Emery's advice and picked up The Hobbit
and The Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien, and was looking for a
good spot to continue from where she'd left off in The Hobbit
from the night before, just after the part where the dwarves had
sung their song. She wondered why Bilbo hadn't packed up then
and there; imagining such a majestic song (and promptly finding
YouTube links to check if she had the melody right) had made
even her want to go on an adventure. But here she was, trapped
in the good old modern times, with only her books and her
studies to take her on flights of fancy, while Bilbo got to have
       dwarves as company. Not fair.
She heard a laugh come from behind a tree, and for once decided
to investigate, instead of turning away. She held her right arm
close, though, gripping her book close as to not arouse
suspicion. She found a blonde head wearing earbuds, sending a
text, and decided to throw caution to the wind.
Coming up into their view, she sat down and waited politely for
him to remove his earbuds before introducing herself.
"Hi, I'm Zinnia." She gulped, then held out her left hand. It
was the most she'd ever done before, in terms of talking to
strangers. Usually she waited for others to introduce
       themselves.

Promise? He laughed as he sent the text back, before slipping
his phone into his backpack. He knew that he would have an
ungodly number of texts from her next time her checked his
phone, which meant that he should wait as long as possible to
check it again. Returning to his music, he leaned his head back
against the tree, sighing heavily. Movement to his left caught
his attention and he turned to watch a pretty blonde sit down a
       foot or so from him.
"Hi, I'm Zinnia." she introduced as soon as he removed one of
his ear buds. He cocked his head to the side a little, watching
her throat work as she gulped nervously.
"Potter," he murmured in response. His gaze drifted down to the
book she was hugging against her body and he read the cover
       curiously.
"The Hobbit," he said, a crooked smile tugging at on corner of
his lips. "How far are you?"

       Zinnia Natter
After hearing a laugh, she decided to introduce herself to the
stranger, no matter who it turned out to be. She sat down in
front of the boy, gulping a bit nervously. Normally she waited
for others to introduce themselves. But today she was feeling a
little adventerous, probably due to The Hobbit, which was
       clutched in her right hand.
"Hi, I'm Zinnia." She introduced herself as soon as he removed
one of his ear buds. He cocked his head to the side a little.
"Potter," he murmured in response. She smiled a little bit,
unable to tell if he was pulling her leg or not. Probably... but
then, why would he? Maybe his name really IS Potter. I shan't
ask.. His gaze drifted down to the book she was hugging against
her body and he read the cover curiously.
"The Hobbit," he said, a crooked smile tugging at on corner of
his lips. "How far are you?"
"Oh, Bilbo's just heard the dwarfs sing their Misty-Mountains
song. He's still deliberating on whether or not to go." She
smiled a little bit in return. At least he didn't mock her for
reading it. Although given the popularity of the beverage/dining
area, she was at least not too surprised. "I'm surprised he
didn't pack there and then myself...although he was a creature
       of comfort."
"I... I must ask, er, about your name..." She blushed, having
already put her foot in her mouth. But she kind of needed to
know. If there was only one series that she had read and loved
more than even viruses, it was the Harry Potter series. Not that
she knew every little detail, and not that she had any of the
series with her, but she had loved the series when she was
younger. And she didn't want to insult this Potter if she could
       help it.
       "I'm just curious, that's all."

Movement to his left caught his attention and he turned to watch

nodded, smirking a bit, but not in a condescending manner.
"I can't say that I really blame him," He commented lightly. "I
mean, thirteen dwarves show up on my doorstep and push their way
into my house? Not exactly going to jump on their band wagon,
       you know?"
"I'm surprised he didn't pack there and then myself...although

"Or maybe you don't." He said, wincing apologetically, "I mean,

"I... I must ask, er, about your name..." She turned a pretty
shade of pink and he couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.
       "I'm just curious, that's all."
He leaned forward as if he was going to tell her something very
important, before speaking in an exaggerated stage whisper, "I
came first." he licked his lips and shook his head slightly,
"And I hate to disappoint, but there is no Harry in my name." He
       winked and sat back.
"Don't worry, I get that a lot." He said with a shrug, "I could
be worse. But I would like to think that I'm better looking."

       Zinnia Natter
After her successful introduction, the boy inquired about her
progress in the novel she had just recently started.
"Oh, Bilbo's just heard the dwarfs sing their Misty-Mountains
song. He's still deliberating on whether or not to go." He
nodded, smirking a bit, obviously having read it.
"I can't say that I really blame him," He commented lightly."I
mean, thirteen dwarves show up on my doorstep and push their way
into my house? Not exactly going to jump on their band wagon,
you know?" Zinnia smiled a bit. So you're of that camp, eh? she
       thought.
"Well, I'm surprised he didn't pack there and then
myself...although he was a creature of comfort." She shrugged.
Whatever other people thought, she always voiced her own
opinion, even if it was quiet. In this case it was decidedly
       not.
"Or maybe you don't." He said, wincing apologetically, "I mean,
       to each their own."
"No harm done. I do see where it could be a nusiance to have so
many people barging in. But then, their song..." she trailed
off, remembering how powerful even the words had been. At least
       for her.
"I... I must ask, er, about your name..." She blushed a little
bit, but she had to know. "I'm just curious, that's all."
He leaned forward as if he was going to tell her something very

back. She took a moment to recover.
"Well then, Potter, pleased to make your acquaintance." She
smiled, although she knew her blush had deepened from their
       closeness.
"Don't worry, I get that a lot." He said with a shrug, "I could
be worse. But I would like to think that I'm better looking."
"Definitely better looking than the movie-version." The words
tumbled out before she could catch them, and her blush returned.
But he really was. Daniel Radcliffe was butt-ugly as an older
actor. "Not so sure about the book version, although since
that's up to everyone's imagination, I suppose that would be
nearly impossible." She shrugged, trying for non-nonchalance,
but unsure of whether she pulled it off or not.

"Your sister, huh?" Zinnia knew what that was like, and

the blush in her cheeks had deepened, mostly from him having
gotten so close. She wasn't used to her personal space being
invaded, let alone her personal space being invaded so politely.
       It was very strange.
"Are you sure about that?" he inquired playfully, leaning over
to brush his thumb over her flushed cheek. "You're awfully
flushed." And it deepened still further. She moved back, a
       little uncomfortable.
       "Quite sure."

"Definitely better looking than the movie-version." The words
tumbled out before she could catch them, and she felt her flush
return. But it was true. Daniel Radcliffe was butt-ugly as an
older actor. A wide smile spread across the real Potter's lips
and he sat up a bit straighter, as though praise could actually
       make him grow.
"Why thank you," he dropped his gaze back to her book and
       smirked, "Thank you, 'Mione."
"I am not Hermione, thank you very much." The book in her hands
may have belied her statement at the moment, but she really
wasn't Hermione... or so she felt. Hermione had probably read
the entire non-restricted part of the library in her first four
years; Zinnia hardly even cared about fiction, and while she had
read some books as a child, she really hadn't cared much for
anything but science fiction, and that hardly could keep her
attention as it was. She had retreated into science young,
driven by the bullies and the fact that they reflected a reality
far more logical and ordered than the one she was experiencing
       at the time.
"Not so sure about the book version, although since that's up to
everyone's imagination, I suppose that would be nearly
impossible." She continued, trying to avoid boosting the clear
       ego in front of her.
"Well, I think I'm better looking than him, period." he teased,
winking again. She rolled her eyes, and slipped her bookmark
into place, anticipating an actual conversation, for once.
"Zinnia..." he thought for a moment, "That's a flower, right?"
"Yes, it is. Mostly native to the Southwestern and Southern US,
