Corzen Foster-White
He should have been working on his homework, but instead he
found himself curled up on the couch in the library, completely
wrapped up in 'Les Trois Mousquetaires' and Florence and the
Machine's rendition of 'Addicted to Love' that was playing
quietly through his headphones. Maybe if he just read the damn
book he could finally rid his mind of the beautiful boy from the
bookstore and get to concentrating on important things... like
the pile of French homework he had due on Monday and the
sketches he had to have done for drawing class.
He'd been actively avoiding Dox, slipping into the furthest seat
from him in the classes they did have together and getting to go
meals from the diner so that he could hideout in his room and
mope. It was pathetic, he knew that, but Dox confused him to no
end and made him feel things that he'd never felt before. The
thought of the other boy caused a thrill to run up his spine and
his stomach to twist nervously.
He flipped the page, staring hard at the French words in front
of him and willing away the image of Dox fencing with an
imaginary partner.

Paradox Fee
He walked into the dorm library, intending to finish some French
homework away from the distractions of his roommate, and
theoretically Corzen and the obsession that had taken root in
the back of his mind.
He put his books on a lone table, sat down and then realized
that there was someone sitting on the couch, facing away from
him. But he would know it anywhere.
Corzen.
He sat as if he hadn't seen Dox come in, and Dox noticed the
earbuds Corzen was wearing. He sat down, making a short attempt
to do his homework.
After a minute of staring at his papers, and being hyper-aware
that Corzen was right next to him, not even 5 yards away, he
gave up and shut his books. He stood up and tried to see what
Corzen was reading.
'Les Trois Mousquetaires'. He sighed quietly. Ok, well there
went every hope of doing my homework, he thought, at least until
I talk to him...
Corzen flipped the page, staring hard at the French words in
front of him. Dox plucked up his courage, and tapped lightly on
the boys shoulder.
"Corzen?"

Corzen Foster-White
Des décisions difficiles, les sacrifices ne tiennent pas au
chaud la nuit, la vie???? S vraiment trop court, trop sacrément
longtemps pour continuer sans que quelqu'un à vos côtés. He
reread the passage over and over again, swallowing hard and
licking his lips as his head was filled with the image of Dox's
muscles drawing tight as he lunged, fencing against an imaginary
opponent. He'd just felt a flush begin to form on his cheeks
when someone tapped him on the shoulder, startling him. He
tugged his headphone out of his ear and turned, expecting to see
Clarence or maybe even one of his dads, but most definitely not
Dox.
Corzen? His pulse jumped and he nodded a bit.
"Dox, salut. Vous m'avez fait peur.," he greeted, closing his
eyes and sighing heavily, "I mean, hi. Eventually I'm going to
remember what language I'm supposed to be speaking."

"Il n'a pas d'importance. Je peux parler à la fois. La plupart
du temps." Dox stated briefly, then translated. "Doesn't matter,
I can speak both. Mostly." He grinned.
"So what's up?" He settled next to Corzen, trying to act
non-chalant about it, but feeling a flush start creeping up his
cheeks again. "Enjoying the book?"

"Dox, salut. Vous m'avez fait peur.," Corzen greeted, closing
his eyes and sighing, "I mean, hi. Eventually I'm going to
remember what language I'm supposed to be speaking." Why was he
always so stupid?
"Il n'a pas d'importance. Je peux parler à la fois. La plupart
du temps." Dox rattled off, causing a shiver to run up Corzen's
spine, "Doesn't matter, I can speak both. Mostly." And then he
grinned and Corzen's blush deepened.
"So what's up?" Corzen shrugged one shoulder and gestured to his
book.
"Just reading... and putting off school work. I've been," he
looked away and sucked in a deep breath, "a little distracted
that past few days. Erm... how have you been?"
"Enjoying the book?" Corzen's eyes widened and his breathing
sped up a bit. God, what had he been thinking? Of course he was
bound to get caught, that's what happens to creepy people.
"Y-yeah," he stammered out, swallowing hard. "Just rereading it.
I... well, I kept reciting it my head after our conversation and
thought reading it would help. You--uh-- you read anything
good?"

"So what's up?" He settled on the couch next to Corzen, trying
to act non-chalant but knew there was a flush creeping up his
cheeks.
Corzen shrugged one shoulder and gestured to his book. "Just
reading... and putting off school work. I've been," he looked
away, "a little distracted that past few days. Erm... how have
you been?"
Dox looked up and accidentally caught Corzen's eyes for a
moment. To escape the pull, he quickly fished around for
anything to say and looked away. "Oh, I'm-- I'm alright.
Enjoying the book?" He hoped, for a moment, that there might be
something there. But he struck that thought from his mind--only
he would think something silly like that. He'd begged his mom to
get a copy of Le Comte De Monte Cristo in French, after all. It
was still in the mail.
Corzen had probably had Les Trois Mousquetaires on his shelf
already anyway. It was Dox who kept getting told he had a lack
of French literature (in French, at least) on his shelf.
"Y-yeah," Corzen stammered out, swallowing hard. "Just rereading
it. I... well, I kept reciting it my head after our conversation
and thought reading it would help. You--uh-- you read anything
good?"
"Uh, well..." He was drawing a blank on the title of the book
he'd purchased the day he'd met Corzen, even though he'd been
reading it literally five minutes ago. "The..." he gulped. "The
Black Tulip is actually pretty good so far."
Well, this is EXACTLY what I planned.... He should have known
that it would go like this. The flush was clearly up in his
cheeks now. He just hoped Corzen wouldn't see it, or at least
understand it for what it was.

"Uh, well..." There was a pause. "The..." he gulped. "The Black
Tulip is actually pretty good so far." Corzen had picked the
wrong moment to look up, his eyes transfixed on the way Dox's
Adam's apple bobbed in this throat when he spoke. Suddenly, he
was painfully aware of how loud his music was, the faintest
sounds of 'Addicted to Love' could be heard.
"Oh god," he breathed, inhaling shakily. His entire body felt
too tight, his clothes too warm, his pulse too erratic.
"IthinkI'mattractedtoyou," he blurted, squeezing his eyes shut
groaning, "Shit, I didn't just say that. I'm sorry." He snapped
his book closed and rose from the couch, "I--I'm so sorry." He
felt like he could cry.

"Uh, well..." he paused, the name of the book he'd bought
escaping him. Corzen was way too close. "The..." he gulped. "The
Black Tulip is actually pretty good so far."
"Oh god," Corzen muttered something that Dox couldn't quite
hear.
"What was that?" Dox glanced over in time to notice the other
boy packing his things and going. Dox's heart sunk. What was
wrong? What am I--what did I do?
"IthinkI'mattractedtoyou," Corzen blurted, squeezing his eyes
shut, then groaning, "Shit, I didn't just say that. I'm sorry.
I--I'm so sorry." He looked like he was going to fall apart, and
tried to leave.
But it was the exact thing that Dox had wanted to hear. He
smiled. But Corzen was already fleeing. Dox stood up and reached
over, trying to catch the boy's shoulder before he ran off.
"Corzen, I--" he paused. There would be no taking it back, and
even though the other boy had said it first, it was still
nerve-wracking. He took a deep breath. "Corzen, I think I like
you too, I--" He couldn't say anything else. "I think I like you
too." He couldn't make eye contact, knowing that if he did, he'd
be totally lost in the other boys' eyes. They were too blue, too
much like the ocean.

"IthinkI'mattractedtoyou," he blurted, groaning and closing his
eyes. "Shit, I didn't just say that. I'm sorry. I--I'm so
sorry." Now he'd done it. He'd gone and messed everything up. He
always did that, no matter how hard he tried. He got up to
leave, book and iPod in hand. The need to flee was overwhelming,
he needed to leave, he needed to get out, but Dox touched his
arm and his resolve disappeared. His belongings fell from his
hands and clattered to the floor, but he couldn't bring himself
to care.
"Corzen, I--" Say it, I can take it. Corzen, I can't do this. I
don't like you. I don't want you. "Corzen, I think I like you
too, I--I think I like you too." Wait... what?
"W-what?" He whispered, turning to face Dox. He wanted to reach
out and touch the beautiful boy. "Y-you do?" He swallowed hard
and ducked into Dox's view, their eyes meeting.
