OOC: For SJ/Mel! Sorry it took forever and a month. ^_^ BIC:
       Sarah Jane "SJ" Tompkins
She had originally come to the bookstore so she didn't have to
go home early. SJ was one of the unfortunates who had family
living within an hour of the school, and currently she was
avoiding a 'family dinner' that was already bound for disaster
before she had even got there. Happily, she had gotten
distracted by a plethora of books that she had never gotten
around to reading, and was now tempted to add to her collection.
She also found a title or two that Clarence had mentioned or she
figured he would enjoy, and she wrote down their names to check
them out later. SJ enjoyed the bookstore. It was comfortable
without being too pretentious, and it had a nice air to it. It
felt like the living room she had always wished for when she was
a little girl - wall to wall bookshelves, and the comfiest of
comfortable chairs and couches on which to enjoy them. SJ curled
up on one of the couches with three books, opening one and
beginning to browse it, one hand tugging on the edge of her long
       black sleeve.
The book she had decided to pick up was one of those classics
that everybody was forced to read in high school, and most
everybody came to hate as a result of forced in-class
discussion: Catcher In The Rye, by J. D. Salinger. Hadn't
Clarence mentioned something about this book? She knew her
sister loathed it. She came home the day after it had been
assigned, groaning and moaning about it, so SJ had messaged
Clarence, asking him his opinions on it. Then they had gone into
a long, somewhat Disney-movie-reference riddled conversation
about the pros and cons of stream of consciousness storytelling,
and she had fallen asleep on the couch.
Now, SJ quietly re-read the first chapter, deciding that maybe
she didn't care as much for the main character as she thought
she had upon last reading. Maybe it was because she had felt
sorry for him, being a fictional character and all, and still be
loathed by a room full of highschoolers, as well as most English
teachers who were forced to teach it every other year. SJ gave a
quiet sigh. Maybe it's one of those books that's meant to be
sort of hated. She longed for the kind of skill others seemed to
have, to purposefully create characters and settings that were
meant to be hated, or meant to be loved. Succeeding at
manipulating an audience like that, to make them feel as you,
the author wished...it felt like a lot of power for one
       individual.

OOC: I am so sorry this is so sort. Boo.
       Melicent Westing
She really wasn't the bookstore 'type', in fact, she loathed the
thought of ever stepping into one, but she wasn't about to risk
getting a demerit for sneaking off of campus in search of a
script for Sweeney Todd. So, much to her dismay, the Hummingbird
Bookstore was her only option. She had planned to be in and out
as quickly as she possibly could, but found herself completely
absorbed in the scripts they had on the shelves. Everything. She
wanted absolutely everything. Phatom of the Opera. Wicked. Cats.
Catch Me If You Can. Legal Blonde. She wanted it all... and only
had the budget for one. Glancing around, she noticed the hand
painted signs that pointed out Reading Rooms.
"Ooh!" she squealed, hugging the scripts to her chest and
slipping into the nearest room. Opening the first script, she
began reading in a loud and exaggerated manor. She heard a few
people groan outside the room and couldn't help but smile at the
       attention.
"Let us be glad. Let us be grateful. Let us rejoicify that
goodness could subdue the wicked workings of You-know-who." She
sang, closing her eyes and plopping down on one of the couches.

       Sarah Jane Tompkins
She hadn't read more than a chapter or two - okay, maybe four -
before she was quite rudely interrupted by someone's obnoxiously
loud voice practicing...was it supposed to be monologues? They
were just random scenes from random movies. SJ tried to ignore
the noisiness for a while, but they were in the same reading
room, and SJ couldn't concentrate very well with the girl's
melodramatic wailing. She let out a weary sigh as the girl - one
of those pretty, tiny, blonde, overtly energetic types - started
to break out into song. SJ rolled her eyes, shutting her book
with an annoyed thunk before looking up toward the couch where
the girl had plopped down to continue aggravating everyone in a
       mile-wide radius.
"Hey, Galinda," she snapped in a loud, irritated tone, "How's
about you go find yourself a magical sound-proof bubble to
continue your caterwauling, before I become the 'You-know-who'
that makes you into a wicked working?" She gestured toward the
doorway, her expression stony, "This is clearly labeled a
'reading room', not 'audition' room. It's rude to all the other
patrons." And get yourself a book on etiquette on your way out.
You can't get by on acting all cute and blonde and obnoxious
       forever, Britney.
