[tt][sub]OOC: Okay, this is an open rp. The first person who
feels like it can take this up! :) BIC:[/sub][/tt]
       Emery March
As she entered the practice room, Emery gazed fondly at all the
instruments. She walked to the piano, passing by the numerous
other things in the room. Then set down her sheet music, and sat
       down.
Emery loved going to the practice room pianos, it really
made her feel alive somehow to feel the beautifully cool keys
beneath her fingers and hear the lovely sound it made. Her sheet
music was for a rather difficult song, but she had been
practicing on her little keyboard at home all break, so she was
plenty ready to play the real piano with ease.
Her hands moved smoothly across the keys, it was one of
her very favorite songs and she smiled as she played. She
started singing along, but she sort of felt it detracted from
just listening to the music on this song, so she let her voice
       fade out after a bit.
After the end of the song, Emery paused to switch her sheet
music, after which she played another song she enjoyed. This one
was by Tori Amos, and although she knew it well, it was one she
hadn't heard or played in awhile. This time she started
singing, but kept on. Her voice was nothing spectacular, but it
       helped with keeping the tempo.
"When you gonna make up your mind? When you gonna love you as
       much as I do..."

       Erin Spenser
When Erin couldn't find her song book, the only place left to
search was the practice room she used last. It wasn't in her
book sack, or in her room, at least that she could find.
Granted, her room looked like Katrina, but she was pretty sure
it wasn't there. And she'd looked in her dad's office and in her
mom's giant purse because it was like a black hole and
everything got sucked down there. But no luck. Really, Erin was
pretty sure she could do the song perfectly fine without it, but
there was a sightreading test coming up, and she wasn't as good
at sightreading as everything else music related, so she
actually had to work at it more.
But when she got back to the room, it was already occupied. Not
really a surprise; those were nice practice places, and in high
demand. Especially for Erin, it felt like walking into a music
store where you could actually play with everything without
having to shell out thousands of nonexistent dollars.
She didn't pause longer than to register that another person was
in there. She just wanted her book, so Erin walked in to find
one of her classmates on the piano. It was a really pretty piano
piece, and she was singing with it. The girl's name, Erin
remembered from class, was Emery, but Erin hadn't ever talked
with her before. Erin wondered if this was the first time she'd
       ever heard her voice.
Tapping her on her shoulder, Erin interrupted her as gently as
possible. "Hey! Sorry to sneak up on you and all, but I think I
left my songbook in here earlier. Did you happen to see one on
the piano when you came in? Or, like, on the floor or
something?" She glanced around, looking for the iconic blue
       cover.
"And, hey, your name's Emery, right? Like the band!" Erin
twisted the ring on her finger, hands anxious to stay busy. "I'm
Erin. I keep seeing you around and stuff, but I don't think I've
ever talked with you." She made a face, showing how silly she
       thought that was of herself.

       Emery March
Emery was partway through a song, singing wholeheartedly as she
did so, but she stopped quickly when someone tapped her shoulder
       gently.
"Hey! Sorry to sneak up on you and all, but I think I left
my songbook in here earlier. Did you happen to see one on the
piano when you came in? Or, like, on the floor or something?"
She was a girl from one of Emery's classes, she seemed quite
talented in music, and she often had a cheerful expression in
her big brown eyes that was truly infectious. Emery smiled up at
the girl, then looked around the room as the girl did the same.
"And, hey, your name's Emery, right? Like the band!" Erin
twisted the ring on her finger, hands anxious to stay busy. "I'm
Erin. I keep seeing you around and stuff, but I don't think I've
ever talked with you." She made a face, and Emery laughed.
"Yeah, my name is Emery. Nice to meet you Erin, I think
I've seen you around a few times too, but I try to be as
involved as possible in anything I can for music, so I tend to
get kind of busy. So that's probably why we haven't had much of
a chance to talk. But I don't think I've seen your book..." She
looked back up at the girl, raising her hands and sort of
shrugging. "I can definitely help look if you want though. Do
you remember where you had it last specifically?"

       Erin Spenser
The girl turned around when Erin called her out of her practice,
which she didn't really love doing, but.... songbook. She didn't
answer right off, so Erin kept going. "And, hey, your name's
Emery, right? Like the band! I'm Erin. I keep seeing you around
and stuff, but I don't think I've ever talked with you." She
rolled her eyes as if to show how ridiculous it was to have
missed talking with this girl, which, really, it was. How had
she missed out on that? It was usually Erin who was the first to
say hi to everyone, including the wall if she wasn't paying
       attention.
"Yeah, my name is Emery. Nice to meet you Erin, I think I've
seen you around a few times too, but I try to be as involved as
possible in anything I can for music, so I tend to get kind of
busy. So that's probably why we haven't had much of a chance to
talk. But I don't think I've seen your book..."
Although the girl seemed well meaning enough, Erin was taken
slightly aback by her reasoning. They hadn't talked because
Emery was so involved in music? Well, she was involved, too, and
still took the time to talk to people. And was this girl trying
to compete with her or something? Because Erin could play that
game, too. Part of her felt like a bird ruffling its feathers
just to make itself look fancier. But the way she'd said it,
wasn't that was she was doing, too? Erin worked her lip. "Yeah,
I do a lot of music, too, obviously," she said, gesturing to
where they were. "I guess that must be why."
"I can definitely help look if you want though. Do you remember
where you had it last specifically?"
It was Erin's turn to shrug. "I dunno. I thought it was here,
but if it's not, I'm out of places to look. I'm supposed to
practice sightreading some stuff, but whatever, I can just get a
copy from someone else for the practice." Wrapping a strand of
hair around one finger, Erin rolled her eyes. "Do you have the
Schmidt songbook? I can just run copies off or whatever..." Erin
didn't have much confidence that the answer would be yes. She
shifted her weight from one foot to the next, waiting
       impatiently.

Erin seemed to pout, causing Emery to knit her brows

to use her friendliest tone, and smiled at Erin.
Erin shrugged in reply. Not a particularly helpful answer. It
made Emery frown slightly, but the girl apparently had more to
say. "I dunno. I thought it was here, but if it's not, I'm out
of places to look. I'm supposed to practice sightreading some

"Uh, yeah. I think I have it in my bag somewhere? This will
just take a second." Emery said, getting off of the piano bench
and bending down beside it to dig through her messenger bag.
"Sorry, I promise this won't take long..." She found it, and,
still sitting on the floor, held it up to Erin. "Here you go,
hope it helps." Emery smiled again.

"I can definitely help look if you want though. Do you remember
where you had it last specifically?"
Erin decided not to point out how painfully parental that
sounded. If she remembered where she'd left it, wouldn't she
have gotten it by now? Instead, she shrugged. "I dunno. I
thought it was here, but if it's not, I'm out of places to look.
I'm supposed to practice sightreading some stuff, but whatever,

"Uh, yeah. I think I have it in my bag somewhere? This will just
take a second." Emery grabbed her messenger bag and started to
rifle through it. Erin watched impatiently. She couldn't figure
out if this girl was okay or not. On the one hand, she was
helping her, but on the other, she already tried to start an
"I'm more dedicated to music than you are" competition. And Erin
really, really hadn't liked that. So she could be helping her
out to earn herself brownie points. It was hard to tell. "Sorry,
I promise this won't take long..." She found it, and, still
sitting on the floor, held it up to Erin. "Here you go, hope it
       helps."
Erin took the book from Emery and automatically flipped through
the pages, seeing it was the same edition as her own. She looked
back at Emery, still feeling in the dark about her. "Uh,
thanks... I'll just go make the copies right quick and be right
back with it. I guess you're gonna still be here, you know,
since you were just playing and all... and since you're super
devoted and stuff," she tacked on, testing the waters. If Emery
wanted to compete, she'd take the bait, and Erin would know she
didn't like her. If she didn't bother with it, then she was
probably okay. Erin made herself wait.
