       Scientists from the University of
       Florida managed to develop a
       multilayer film based on OLED,
       suitable for use as a key element of
       night vision devices. The principle of
       the invention is different from the
       existing technology of night vision
       devices, which require significant
       dimensions. The infrared signal is
       enhanced while the light passes
       through the layers of organic light
       emitting diodes (OLED) and
       converted into visible spectrum.
       The test sample of the studied
       material is only about 1 square
       centimeter yet, but the researchers
       promise that within a year and a half
       will be able to develop the
       technology to be used, for instance,
       in car windows for better visibility at
       night and, of course, mobile phones
       and other mobile devices.
