The P124-series handguns were the newest & best sonic based
handguns available just before the nuclear apocalypse. They
Incorporated all of the latest developments in sonic &
microwave-technology due to complete cooperation between FN
Herstal and Heckler und Koch.
The pistol was revealed to be a gem of modern European Alliance
technology. The pistol fired a wave of sound per pull of the
trigger. Living beings exposed to the beam can expect nausea,
loss of balance, deafness, blackouts, internal injury & death
(due to rupture of internal organs, including the brain),
depending the weapons setting.
The P124-P, police issue, had a very wider array of settings
enabling it for a variety of less-than-lethal beams & reduced
collateral damage. The P124-M, military issue, sported a boosted
emitter, which allowed it to better destabilize/destroy metals,
concrete, and rock than the law enforcement edition. This was
necessary to make it effective against armored automated
defenses & the like.
The pistol was completely ergonomic, relatively light, and
multifunctional. It quickly became a favorite for all military &
law enforcement units that were capable of paying the high price
(especially the M-variant). This meant it mostly ended up in
elite special forces units, prestigious police units,
intelligence services, & bodyguard units.
Both pistols have the following functionality:
- Ability to modify beam diameter (from 1cm to 40cm), maximum
effective range (25m to 55m), frequency and intensity
- Fully ambidextrous handling
- Integrated under barrel LED flashlight
- Magazine/battery in the pistol grip
- LED array with the ability to display remaining battery
capacity, beam diameter setting, range setting, frequency
setting and beam intensity.
The weapons greatest drawback was that it only fires it's beam
at the speed of sound and that it is relatively "wide" or
"thick" when compared to conventional weapons. Specific
anti-sonic & anti-microwave armor are becoming more & more
common, but developments in frequency modulation & beam
intensity continue to surpass all but the bulkiest current
armoring technology.
The beam settings (diameter, range, frequency & intensity)
highly impact the life of the battery. Several examples of the
battery capacity are 100 less-than-lethal shots at 25 meters, 45
lethal shots at 25 meter, 35 lethal shots at 55 meters, 22
lethal shots at 25 meter on enhanced armor penetration setting &
so on. Using the guns ability to destroy solid matter greatly
drains the battery. Destroying the lock of a door or damaging
automated defenses are feasible, but truly destroying solid
matter such as a thick metal plate would take several batteries
to achieve.
The use of the anti-"solid matter" settings on humans is highly
inadvisable & extremely messy.
