Thoughts on the game

With a max of 3 sections of track that can be laid a month it
may not make much sense to gt any sections that are less then
three until your looking for filler routes.
And any track that has its sections divisible by three is the
maximum return for time and construction return.
Assuming you have money to do this.

I agree, except for one potential problem. NPC RR's. If you wait
too long one may charter a vital route you need and throw a
monkey wrench into your expansion plans!!! ;D

Well, any section of tack laid costs money right?
A route that is too long is going to run you out of money and
force you to take loans or sell more stock.

Yep, it costs. That is a part of the decision matrix that the
player must deal with. Is money or time more important right
now? ;)

Created the rules for Express Routes. Hope they work as
intended! ;D

In the Feb turn a lot of tiny routes were constructed. So time
limits are not a factor. However on most routes the player will
have 1 year to construct 36 Track Sections. This is good to
construct most routes out east. However, once you get past the
Mississippi River, the routes tend to get longer. So time will
become a factor out there.
There is a way to extend the construction times. For every 10 TS
a player constructs on a route, the time is automatically
extended by 6 months. This will give the player extra time, but
no time to dawdle.
There are many examples of a RR not finishing a route and their
charter taken away from them. So if a player charters a route,
it would be best to finish it before time runs out, or he will
lose his significant investment.
