I am at the point where the bare bones interface for sql that

let me copy and paste more then 256 characters or anything below
a carriage return. Whichever limit I hit first... :'(

A small cadre of comrades and professionals can help in
survival.

Yes they can. However, depending on where the initial scenario
is located one type of profession will dominate. So some
professions may not be available, except with retirees.

True. But retirees can prove very useful. Experience can come in
handy. And it is true, location, location, location does matter.
Still a mixed bag of tricks can always turn the tide.

Absolutely bud. But IMO the VERY FIRST thing a group would need
to do is secure a steady supply of food and water. The only way
to do that is to begin agriculture production again and that
takes muscle power, not mind power.
Once a group has secured their food and water supplies they can
then afford to begin to expand their knowledge base and this is
where retirees will shine. But up until that time they would
only be a drain on the group's limited resources.
As I was taught in the Corps, Survival First, expansion second.
All the information and experience in the world does you no good
if there is no one who can use it. ;D
Cheers, Thor

Agreed. Secure the deck and expand. After all, food in the belly
not only keeps you alive and make you strong - it raises morale.
Morale can make or break any situation.

Absolutely bud. Now, if I were the leader of a survival group I
would not turn away retirees and invalids, but I WOULD find
something for them to do, to help the group. Since there are a
myriad number of tasks that would need to be done while the fit
ones were in the fields. ;D
