I've set up this forum so we can discuss things. Was going to
use Facebook but Brad hasn't got a FB account. So set this up
instead.
Maybe we should introduce ourselves first?
I'm Tim, been teaching guitar fulltime for about 4 years (was a
school teacher before that) Currently have around 40 pupils per
week of all ages and ability. I'm based in Shropshire.

Hi all, Dave here. I've been teaching on and off for over
30yrs. Currently building up a roster with varied levels and
ability. I'm based in Colorado Springs, Co. I was curious
on how we expand on specifics for certain topics in the sheet.
For example with ear training I have the students use
Tenuto/musictheory.net and start with unison/p4/p5 and octave.

Hi all,
Cheers for the welcomes. Waiting for one more person to say hi.
Anyone looked at the curriculum link yet and got any
suggestions?

I like where we've started. I would like to add an "example"
column, for specific tasks etc. I'm guessing there will be a
variety of methods for any given task and it would be beneficial
to see the spectrum.
I'm curious if any of you change your teaching style for younger
students as well? ie Gamify some topics?

Cheers Dave for adding that and saving as a version 2.
Need others now to jump on board and add bits in, lots of gaps
to fill so we can get version 3, 4.....
Can just be little bits at a time, just have a look!

Had a quick scan through it and so far I think it’s a great
starting point!
Rather than diving in and throwing suggestions in just yet, I
guess I’m interested in where would the ideal end point be for
someone taking this curriculum? Or rather, what kind of
guitarist would you be looking to create?
How far down any given rabbit hole would you want things to go?
Certain areas can grow into very large areas of study in
themselves.
And how would this impact the various stages of the curriculum
or short/long term goals?

Yeah it's a valid point. I've taken it pretty far I think but
the prob is when you are a beginner you are doing the same as
all beginners (pretty much) but then the more you advance the
more specialised you get and therefore the more diverse the
curriculum has to be. So I would say most of the focus should be
up to grade 5 ish level but then with some ideas beyond that.
