This is a really interesting topic you've picked for your diss
man. And, although I may lack the practical philosophical acumen
to understand all of the terms completely (un/conditional,
pre-discursive, contingent etc etc) I get the basic premise -
that if we act with the intent to create society, 'as if'
society can and does exist then it could exist and not just in a
hopeful dreamy sense - but explicitly, as we begin to
participate in shared social practices/performances/rules etc.
One thing I think is really important (if i've understood it
correctly) is that you stress how important it is that the
intent for society - that impetus which is vital to create any
actual, material, explicit, real quality of society - must come
from the collective rather than a pluralism of possibly
antagonistic individual voices. In many ways those initial
decisions and compromises are some of the founding bonds of
       society.
Something I slightly overstated just now is the extent to which
society is a certainty- because I think that what you want to
argue is that we may act 'as if' society is possible, which is
in many ways the necessary first step - and perhaps the only
step - we can confidently take in that direction. What I really
really like about the tone of your outline is that there are no
overstatements in this respect. You are right to deliberate, as
you say yourself - this process of problematizing is one which
is necessary, and it takes time. And for now, what is more
important than postulating as to what that future society will
look like or how it should function, is arguing that it is even
possible to entertain the idea - and HOW we will choose to
entertain the idea, possibly through a process of public
deliberation. That is so important, and reflecting on the
fast-paced urgency and immediacy of our contemporary lives, is
one which has almost been lost. So sick one for stressing the
value of the process that moves towards the ideal (though may
never actually reach it) over the actual idealized end-goal!
In terms of things you may find helpful for your dissertation,
i'm not sure how good any of these recommendations will be. As I
sense already I have talked in quite generic terms, and what you
are tackling is quite a proper philosophical investigation.
Nooooonetheless, take a look at some of this shit:
Routledge Guide (Stuart Sim) - An intellectual history of
       Post-marxism
Emile Durkheim - The Division of Labour in Society
Maybe also some Max Weber and Karl Mannheim?

safffe man thanks for the comments and recommendations! on
tuesday im going to essex to meet up with my supervisor so i
should have taken some steps forward by next week i hope!
thanks for the recommendations, yeah iv been studying a bit of
weber/durkheim stuff this year :) dont really know much
specifics about mannheim so he will be someone ill try to read
up on asap! - altho since those guys are more from the modern
school of thought (as opposed to post modern) they sometimes
fall into the issue of presupposing a social totality in the
sense that i want to say it is impossible (as a coherent whole
without antagonisms existing in it necessarily or ineliminably)
ill download a copy of the sim, that will probably come in
       useful nice one!
just to respond to you're last bracketed comment '(although we
may never reach it)' - what i want to say is that we can never
reach it necessarily, if what we are aiming towards is a stable
notion of society without internal antagonisms etc... so
politics is conceived of as an unending task which always
becomes more perfect but can never become perfect...
having said that tho i think i will have changed around some of
the terminology by the time its finished though... i think
rather than articulating it like this i will try to talk about
how we can positively think of 'ideology' rather than talking
about how we can act as if society is possible... also im not
sure whether i will use the word 'pre-discursive' or not yet,
its another thing im going to have to talk to my supervisor
       about!
anyway, ill keep yall updated on changes and developments and
upload another version of this once iv made some progress :)
thanks so much for the feedback man glad you like it!
lemmee know when your back in the vicinity!
       xxx

Separate topic I suppose - but this is a really interesting book
on the Marxist notion of alienation in more contemporary society
(1960s) - looking at the technological, political, social
       framework through which it operates.
Would be cool if it could be updated again to incorporate the
changes in society since the 1980s in which the truly atomizing
effects of neoliberalism, propagated by Thatcherite/Reaganomic
policy, took alienation to an all new level of individualism.
