Reach for the Sky

"Reach for the Sky" The Sheriff grinned, this sheriff would be
familiar to most, but not in the whole cowboy get up. It was
Robin! Only, scruffier then usual, and with a cowboy hat, an
open vest jerker and a golden star sheriff badge, along with
tight blue denim jeans and cowboy boots to fit, all that along
with of course the belt with the gun pockets filled with his
sheriff pistols and golden belt buckle.
His tail swayed low, his ears right up, a bullet wound shot scar
through the side of his right ear.
His hands where twitching by his sides, right beside his pistols
as he stared across at his apposer.
His apposer was also a chocolate coloured canine, but with some
soft green fur too, she too was dressed to fit the 'western
cowboy' theme, or 'cowgirl' if you wanted. Her bright purple
eyes flashed as the two stared each other down, standing in the
center of the town, some eyes watched from the safety of their
homes and buildings, pubs, shops, all that.
Robin's green eyes locked onto the girls purple ones, but hers
darted this way and that, "Twitchy aren't we Partner? Why
dontcha' drop the act and let me take ya in, you'll be in less
trouble if ya give up now" He grinned, She just laughed,
"Twitchy? You want to know why I'm twitchy sheriff? Because I'm
just itchin' to get my hands on this town after I take ya out
Sheriff, not just that, but I'll be scoring a high title once I
take you outta the picture, this is for all the others you've
roped up!" She pulled out her weapon and aimed it at Robin's
head, only for a rope to wrap around her wrist and tug so that
she couldn't get a clear shot of the sheriff, "Go get her
Sheriff!" Another familiar, Sapphire! She too was all dressed up
and scruffy, standing nearby pulling on her lasso rope, "You're
my favourite Deputy!" Robin shouted out to her, tipping his hat
to her as he rushed over to the outlaw, and pulled out his own
rope, whipping the weapon out of her hands, "Hey!" He caught it
and put it on his belt, "That's mine now Cowgirl" He stuck his
tongue out before he had his rope handy again, he got the loop
around her and then twirled her towards him, wrapping her up in
the rope as she spun, "Woah! Woah! Woah!".
"Another Outlaw caught, great job Deputy Hedgehog! Ah couldn't
of done it without ya!" He pushed down her red cowgirl hat,
making it cover her eyes. They where back at the jail and where
now heading out after having put the apposer behind bars, "This
calls for a celebration, a treat, you know what that means
dontcha?" The hedgehog nodded enthusiastically, "I hope you've
got your dancin boots on then!" He said happily, the hedgehog
cheered and sped in circles, only to stop when her feet heated
up a bit too much to handle, "Wait! Robin! It's me! Remember?
Minty? Veronica? You made me" They paused and turned back to
their previous apposer, she had her hands on the bars and looked
confused and frighhtened, "That's Sheriff Robin to you, missy,
and Nah, sorry, Can't say I've seen ya face before now, don't
know what ya mean by 'made me' Cowgirl, I don't have any kids"
Veronica let out a whine as the two continued to walk away,
looking sadly at the device around her wrist, "Why doesn't he
remember?" She asked herself.
A few hours later it was time for Deputy Sapphire to go to
sleep, and since the Sheriff was in charge of looking after her,
it meant bed time for him too. He carried the already asleep
young hedgehog back to their place and set her down on her bed,
taking off her hat and placing it over her body, "Sleep well
Deputy, Big day tomorrow" He smiled before heading to his own
room.
Once there he took of his hat and placed it on a table beside
his bed, slipping off his jacket and placing it aside too, he
took his guns put of his belt and out them somewhere safe but
for now he kept his belt and pants and boots on.
He wandered over to a 'wanted' poster he had on one of his walls
looking at the familiar face of the mobian in the picture on the
poster... "Soon" He said aloud as he flopped onto his bed,
laying on his back with his hands up behind his head, "I'll get
ya soon" He added, as he closed his eyes, and then went silent,
aside from his gentle breathing, his chest raising and falling
with every breath.

Not all Cowboys and cowgirls operated the same way though, in
fact under the darkness was when the number one set of hands to
a well-known feminine outlaw came out from under his rock and
played his champion's games.
But we'll come to Alt and his reason for being here in a minute.
Earlier in the evening:
[I]A town or two away a group of two, a dark blue hedgefoxe and
a light blue one wandered into the town. The female dark blue
had a pistol and seemingly a flame coloured shield. The light
blue one had just a pistol, but she had something that was much
more disturbing. Her eyes glowed red, something that could in no
way be natural. Dark energy pulsed around her but it wouldn't be
like they could spot that. The two entered the town like they
weren't wanted or anything.
Things got interesting and dangerous though when the light blue
one drew out a pistol at extreme speeds and shot a civilian
straight through the head. Most of the townsfolk were suddenly
in a blind panic making for the nearest of buildings.[/I]
[I]"You picked the wrong-"[/I]
[I]The sheriff was hardly out of the sherriff's office before a
bullet was through her brain, another dead sheriff, another two
victims to this Hedgefox, but who was she? She walked over to a
'WANTED' poster on a pole.
The face was a dead-on match.[/I]
[B]WANTED
K-ruel Killer Kai.
For the deaths of countless civilians and sheriffs
Reward for Death or Capture: $10,000[/B]
[I]"Y'all know it'll never happen."[/I]
[I]The duo wandered into the town's bar, BANG, 'Kai' just picked
a target and added a third victim to her tally for the town. The
duo wandered over to the bar, the dark blue one took a seat.
[/I]
[I]"Frothiest beer YA got, and stick a chilli in it."[/I]
[I]The bar staff weren't about to ignore anything said by the
most accurate shooter they'd ever seen, a cowgirl that killed
without remorse, without pity, and those glowing red eyes that
could pierce your soul. She demanded respect or fear, and she
got it in a number of towns across the Wild West.
With the drink made she pushed it across the bar to the dark
blue deputy. She drank it down in a few tips of the glass.[/I]
[I]"Mild... But it will pass."[/I]
[I]Pushing the glass off the bar it hit the ground with a SMASH.
The duo walked out of the bar and to two tied up horses.
A Jet Black Hedgefox stepped out of the shadows and turned Dark
Blue like the girl that had drunk the chili drink.[/I]
[I]"Wouldja be believ'n it Minty's gone n got herself locked
up!"[/I]
[I]"So git gone n rescue her."[/I]
[I]Kai jumped up onto her horse, it responded to her dark energy
and began to trot along. The dark blue female did the same and
her horse followed the dark energy controlled one.
The dark blue male didn't bother with a horse, he had the
ability of blending into the environment like a chameleon. He
would just walk.[/I]
Back to the present night:
Alt had turned his fur to jet black to fit into the darkness
that his boss loved so much. He wandered through the sheriff
building, he made a little effort to make his footsteps quiet,
but generally felt that, if the sheriff was woke up by his
footsteps, he could easily blend into the brown of the walls. He
approached the cell that had Veronica in and backed up to a wall
fading to brown fur to match the walls in case his footsteps had
indeed woken the sheriff or his speedy deputy.

Alt faded into the brown colour of the walls just in time too,
The Sheriff's Deputy had woken up and had gotten out of bed and
came down stairs for something to drink.
Sapphire yawned, her hat in one hand, dragging along the floor
beside her as she wandered over to the kitchen, rubbing an eye
with her free hand.
She blinked sleepily before searching the cupboards and kitchen
for something to quench her thirst. Seconds later she'd found
the milk, had two glasses then returned it to it's place, and
headed back to her room, quietly walking past Robin's room as
she went, gently pushing on the door to check on him before
seeing that he was fine and closing the door again as she headed
off back to her room.
Veronica was sitting in the far right corner of her cell, her
hat tipped down low as she quietly played a harmonica, her tail
gently swaying side to side as she played. How'd she get the
harmonica? She had that device on her wrist still remember?
Her ears gave a flick, she could hear Alt's footsteps, she knew
he was around here somewhere, but she did no more reaction wise
until Sapphire had gone back to sleep.
When that had happened she pushed up her hat, her purple eyes
glowing in the moonlit jail cell, "Ya didn't have ta come for me
Alty" She said softly as she got to her feet and wandered over
to the bars of her cell, wrapping her fingers around them,
making soft clinks with every step she took, her outfit had
stuff that clinked perhaps? Probably, cowboys and cowgirls
tended to have stuff like that.
Her eyes went to where Alt was hidden against the wall, and then
down at the floor before she let go of the bars and sat down on
the cell bed, "He doesn't remember..." She sighed, putting her
cheeks in her hands and her elbows on her knees.
Robin and Sapphire both slept away peacefully, for now, Robin
was alone in his room, and Sapphire had her Kelpie pal sleeping
in her room with her, the canine wasn't so much of a guard dog,
just more of a friend of the hedgehog's that helped keep her
safe at such dangerous hours for a young deputy.

[I]"You've got a device that can make things darlin."[/I] Alt
whispered to her. [I]"Hav'n ya mayhaps thought ta make a key ta
unlock the cell?"[/I] he pointed out. [I]"Another lil
dimensional paradox hit us Minty. Ceil and DCM are working on a
fix. Walk n talk a'ight? Let's go. This western accent stuff
pains me to do..."[/I] of course Alt would be the one that would
be safe from paradox effects now wouldn't he? He [B]did[/B] date
Ceil after all, no knowing what measures she gave him.

"O' course I thought of doin' that Alt, I ain't stupid yanno"
She whispered back, "I coulda gotten outta this cell ages ago, I
just haven't because.. Well... I dunno.. I feel kinda low
yanno?" She shook her head, her hair bounced as she did so,
"Paradox? So that must be why..." That gave her the motivation
to get herself out of the cell at least, "Alright, alright, walk
n talk" She said as she headed towards the exit.
"I find the accent more... Amusing" She admitted, nodding her
head, her hair bouncing around again.
She put her hands on the belt around her hips and looked to a
screen within her mind, she was doing quite a lot of things at
once.
"So what are we to do while this is being fixed? Is anyone else
not effected like you and I? Or are we on our own for now?" She
asked, as she pulled out a holographic list that had a list of
names and the faces that the names belonged to.
Robin and Sapphire both had crosses next to their names with a
word in red writing underneath that read, 'Effected' she put a
finger on the holographic screen and scrolled down, The whole
BLU team was there but instead of crosses they had question
marks and 'Unknown' next to their names, including Fem, she
finally got to Alt on the list and did a 'tick' motion on the
screen, he got a tick next to his name and 'Uneffected', "Have
you met any of the others? I'd be good to keep track of how
everyone is currently, so we know who we can turn to".

A note fell out of Alt which he picked up and put on top of the
lock of the door.
Howdy Sheriff.
Y'all don't be know'n me, but I be know'n you, you be the
boyfriend of the reformed K-Ruel Killer Kai.
What's that? You're not? Well when she pops into town y'all'd be
darn tootin best ta show her a candlelight dinner and a gentle
Robin rather th'n a Jail Cell. There ain't gon' be a cell that
c'n hold her if YOU make her angry.
So why you, Eh pard'ner?
D'you be knowin what a dimensional paradox is? It's when the
past has been modified t'create a whole new present. N guess
what sheriff? You n your deputy Sapphire Emerald Hedgehog are
Livin in one!
Minty and I are the only ones that're know'n the correct future,
she had to be busted outta jail for this.
K-Ruel Killer Kai Is the result of the girl without you by her
side to be lovin her sheriff. And look at the killin she does.
That c'n all stop, she'll be in town soon, remember these words.
A jail cell will doom your town and every other town. Sweep her
off her feet n you c'n have the best thing ta ever happen to ya.
Keep ridin high Tex. Griffolyin
He quickly caught up to Veronica. [I]"Madoka is a question mark
on this matter."[/I] Alt explained to her. [I]"Madeliene's
another yellow dot on this, but a bigger problem. She's
DarkScale submerged, and you know as well as I do that the four
people that can bring her back around are either nowhere to be
found or effected."[/I] Alt looked back at the sheriff building
as Veronica and him exited the town, he then looked at Veronica.
[I]"But despite his state, Robin's gonna help us with all of
this."[/I] Alt wouldn't dare say it, but he had his fingers
crossed on this. [I]"Has anyone ever told you you're good
lookin?"[/I] he asked her before facepalming. Even his writer
isn't sure where THAT one came from.

Veronica made sure question marks where on Madoka and Madeliene
after Alt said they should have them there, she added a note on
Madeliene's one, with small dot points on what Alt had told her
about the other Hedgefox, best to keep tabs and notes on
everyone.
"And Nothing on anyone else as of yet, which is good I guess,
could mean they are still back in the correct dimension,
unaffected completely" She said as she waved the screen away and
continued to walk alongside Alt, out of the town.
She nodded, "Robin will help us out on this for sure, I know he
will" She said confidently.
Veronica then paused, blinked and then looked at Alt rather then
just looking ahead of her, she raised an eyebrow, "No, no one
has ever told me that I'm good lookin before" She said, was that
a slight smile on her face?
She looked away, her hands still on her belt, her boots making a
soft 'clink' with each step she took.
Her eyelids drooped slightly as she looked straight ahead of
herself again, glancing to Alt, "You're uh... Not that bad in
appearance yourself" Her ears flicked, "Nice pearly whites-" She
smiled showing her own teeth, "Cuddly looking fluffy tails, a
rather 'fit' figure, nice hair style, very nice yeah, a
wonderfully blue coat and let's not forget those stunning eyes"
Her purple eyes went down to her boots, it was hard to tell her
expression or tone at the moment.
"Why'd you ask?" She finally asked after a moments pause,
referring back to his question.
As the sun came up on the horizon and it's early morning rays of
light peeked through the windows of the town, one ray of light
hit the face of the sleeping sheriff, who stirred and shook his
head gently, blinking slowly before yawning and stretching out
his arms, "G'mornin Sunshine" He said to the sun as he got out
of bed, attacking his sheriff badge to his belt before taking
his hat and placing it on his head, he didn't feel like wearing
his open vest today.
He headed out and downstairs, Sapphire was already awake and was
silently patting the Kelpie dog as she sat at one of the dining
room chairs, "Up bright and early as per usual, that's what ah
like ta see, how's the prisoner holdin u-""the outlaw is gone,
but you've got a note" She said softly, as she held the note out
to him, he snatch it up and read it.
"K-Ruel Killer Kai" He growled, his eyes narrowing as he
continued on reading the note.
When he finished he slammed the note down on the table, making
Sapphire jump, before he stared to pace around the room, a hand
on his chin, "So? What are you going to do Sheriff?" "I don't
know Squirt, I don't know..." He sighed.
"Well, why not try a candle lit dinner with her, it won't be so
bad I'm sure, and maybe it'll warm her up, make her more happy,
that kinda thing, yanno?" For Sapphire she was awfully quiet,
Robin scoffed, "A date with her? But we're complete opposites
Partner! She's Outlaw Number One, and I am The Law Number One,
ya see what I'm aiming at here? Outlaws and the law don't mix"
Sapphire watched him pace, he picked up the note and reread it,
"It's probably a trap to get me killed, she'll shoot ma head off
before I get to even light ah single candle!" He took his hat
off and held it firmly in his hands, staring down at it,
"Besides I doubt SHE got a note similar to that there one, and
how he blazin' am I suppose to ask her out to a candle lit
dinner anyhow? She'll see ma badge and BAM no more head for me"
He ran a hand through his hair, she'll be in town soon. What was
he going to do? "Well... You can't just give up" He held up his
hands, before pointing at her, "I ain't givin up! I NEVER give
up! If ma head's shot off trying to bring her to justice then so
be et! At least ah'll die Tryin' to protect the people of this
town, like ah sheriff is suppose'd to do" he nodded, popping a
toothpick in his mouth as he began to chew it.
Sapphire stood up on her chair and grabbed the toothpick from
his mouth and pulled it out, shaking her head, "[sub]You only
ever do that when you're unsure and nervous" She said, "I say,
you pull off this candle lit dinner, at least try it, if it is
the only way to calm her and settle things without having half
the town blown to bits, then it's worth a try" She nodded before
she leapt off her chair and headed up stairs, "Where ya
goin?""Gettin' you a suit".
He rubbed his forehead, "Ah can't believe I'm going along with
this..." He sighed, sinking into a nearby chair, "Where am ah
suppose to meet a gal like her anyhow?"

He hadn't thought of a backing reason to explain why he asked.
His mouth was agape for a few seconds before he shook his head.
[I]"Oh what the hay you only truly fall in love once!"[/I] at
that he quickly put his arms around her and pulled the AI Girl
into a seconds lasting lips kiss. He pulled away
eventually.[I]"That's why I asked. The fact is Veronica, we
could all be dead the day after tomorrow, but even if we only
get today and tomorrow, at least you know... how I feel about
you."[/I] he had a slight smile on his face. [I]"Maybe when
we've fixed our timeline we can try a date or something."[/I]
the smoke of a fire could be seen in the distance. [I]"That's
her camp. Head on back to her okay? I have plans."[/I] and at
this he camouflaged into the sands and was gone.

Alt had his arms around her and his lips against her's before
she had time to even react to anything of what he had said. The
AI let out a soft "Mmmmmmmm~ <3" in the time that their lips
where connected, her eyes closed and her hands went to Alt's
shoulders, her face reddening, but it was only for the amount of
time that the kiss lasted for, when he pulled away, her eyes
fluttered open again, and she blinked a few times, her purple
eyes readjusting to the light.
She didn't exactly know how to feel about this or about what Alt
had said to her.
He loved her?
But... She was only an AI, she knew about what Alt usually did
to most other girls, she of course didn't judge him on it
though, at first she had just assumed that it could've been
because of that, that he had brought up his question beforehand,
but now... Well he said why he brought it up now.
Veronica smiled back seeing his slight smile, she put her right
hand to her mouth and gently bit her right index finger at his
suggestion, "That could be arranged" She stated.
She looked over at the smoke in the distance, then back to Alt
as he talked, she nodded, "Stay safe" She said as he
disappeared, and she continued on her way to the camp, with one
main thing on her mind, Alt, she ran a hand through her hair,
how would she fair on a date anyhow? She didn't know how to
date... It wasn't really apart of her programming and.. She
shook her head, save those thoughts for later.

It was the edge of night as Alt reached Sheriff Robin's peaceful
town. [I]"Well, this is gonna go one of two ways."[/I] he
muttered to himself. He stepped into the Sheriff's office and
camouflaged himself into the wall to the left of the door to his
office and waited.
Sure enough it wasn't too long before the duo were up and Alt
was listening in.
Him flopping into chair sounded like a cue to him. He turned
back to his normal dark blue self. [I]"Never give up. That's a
darn tootin good attitude ya got there Sheriff."[/I] he told the
dog as he wandered into his office. [I]"I admit, Ah was worried
you wouldn't believe a word of the note. But obviously you're a
smart Sheriff to understand the correct way around this."[/I] a
small pack of photos appeared in his hand as he'd pulled them
out. He put them down on the desk. [I]"Take a good long look
pard'ner."[/I]
The one at the top had been custom chosen for effect. Robin,
down on one knee, a ring box opened, Fem's eyes had widened. It
was the moment before she said yes. Her only thing that might
have thrown Robin with this photo was that 'Kai' s eyes were not
glowing red, but a humane, normal white with dark blue irises.
The next few photos showed Robin, Fem and Sapphire doing things
together. eating Chilidogs and Ice Cream, ice skating, Fem
failing spectacularly at this and Robin helping her along with
it.
There was one in there of Madness and Robynn, Robin may perhaps
spot how much like him she looked?
But the bottom photo might just shake him the most.
The photo in all its glory had Fem, Robin, and a 7 year old
Mariah, all in Cowboy Hats.
Alt gave him a few seconds to let it sink in. [I]"Now do y'truly
understand why this is down t'you Sheriff?"[/I] he asked him.
