[Mountainous Region Zone] A Broken Soul
DIR By: guest11

A bleeding and broken body crawled through the harsh snowstorm,
barely holding onto any semblance of life. He attempted to get
up... only to be pulled back down. Tears and blood streamed down
his face as he eventually gave up in moving forward.
He was right... no one would come save me...
And he may as well die here anyways...
It's better this way...
He collapsed into the snow, unconscious.

Natasha had been walking through this storm for days; why did
she have to decide to go to Haven on foot? Then again, these
mountains were not usually this hazardous. The feline wrapped
her tail tightly against her waist and pulled her coat closely;
it wouldn't be too long now.
A sudden wind wailed against her side, nearly knocking her over,
and the cat stumbled to the side for a moment as she found her
balance again. "Stupid wind," she mumbled under her breath as
she scanned the horizon for some trees to take cover near. There
were none to be seen, but... what was that in the distance? It
looked like a rock, but why was the snow... red?.. She gathered
up some of the crimson snow and sniffed it for a moment, before
gagging; blood. And it was leading right to that 'rock'. What
the heck was this all about?
She moved forward, getting closer and closer before making out
the vague shape of a... person? If it was a person, then that
must have been his blood. She ran forward, frightened out of her
mind and worried for the poor soul. When she finally knelt down
beside him, she flipped him over and checked his pulse; still
alive! Without a second thought, she pulled him up under his
shoulders and dragged him away through the snow, looking about
for some sort of shelter. There were trees now; that was a
start. She broke several dry twigs off and pulled some loose
pieces of bark, using her hands to make a small pit of sorts to
give them a slightly better shelter from the brutal winds.
With the tiny hole dug into the snow like a snow fort, she
pulled Shoke into it and pulled a magnesium stick from her
pocket, lighting the bark and bunching up the twigs on top of
it; it wasn't much, but at least it was a fire. She'd have to
gather up what she could later on, but at least the lynx
wouldn't become hypothermic; still, he looked awfully familiar.
"Why do I feel like I've seen you before..."

Some time had passed, and eventually, the body began to stir. A
groan of pain was heard from him as he slowly began to try and
sit up, but then grasped his side. He pulled his hand away and
looked at it... his side was still bleeding. He put his hand
back on the wound to put pressure on it, and he looked around to
see the young cat lady sitting next to a fire.

Having had to sit in the snow for what felt like hours, Natasha
had long ago built up the fire and started to nap beside it, but
the hedgehog's groan was enough to wake her as her hears
twitched from the new noise. She sat upright and rubbed her eyes
for a moment before turning to him, smiling; "You're okay...
Thank goodness... Now if only I had some way of patching up that
wound..." She scooted over beside him, curling into the fetal
position as she sat next to him. "You're lucky I found you...
Not many people walk this route..."

The yellow hedgehog nervously moved back, not knowing what to
think of this girl who had just saved his life. He looked around
some more, and looked at his ruined cloak.
"Use this." He said nervously, handing her the cloak weakly. He
kept his hand down on his wound as hard as he could, but the
blood was still leaking... he was starting to feel a bit woozy.
"...you should have just let me die..." He said after dropping
the cloak from a spurt of pain.

"Why would you say that?" the feline asked him in a frightened
tone; why would he have just wanted to die? She took the cloak
that he had handed off to her and paused for a moment before
beginning to wrap it around the wound. She tightened it well,
putting plenty of pressure on it to help stop the bleeding.
"Come on, now... What's your name?" She looked to the hedgehog
with a kind expression, wanting to make him feel comfortable; to
make him want to speak up, to not want to die... She wanted to
be his friend...

He sighed, shaking his head as he looked at the young cat. In
her eyes, he appeared to be a young adult... she can't know the
truth. This is his only hope for a new start... maybe...
"I do not want to die... I just felt like it may have been
better if I did," He sat up crossing his legs and looking into
the fire.
"My name is one-... he stopped himself, as if he was bringing up
painful memories. He sighed again.
"You may call me Shoke."

"Shoke, huh?" Natasha smiled as she looked to the hedgehog; he
seemed tense... shy... "How did you end up out here?" She looked
to the fire, her tail flicking about and occasionally brushing
up against Shoke, the warmth of the fur brushing off on him
somewhat.

Shoke looked towards the entrance and stared, obviously not
wanting to talk about what happened.
"...I... I'd rather not say." Shoke looked back to the fire,
taking a quick glance at the girl next to him when she brushed
up against him.
"...And you?" He asked.

Natasha raised an eyebrow, wondering what could it be the poor
guy wanted to hide so badly. "Well... I was making my way to
Haven. You should head there with me; we could get you patched
up better. That sound like a good idea?" The feline placed a
hand on his leg and looked to his eyes, hoping he would agree to
join her; she didn't want to see him left out in the snow,
doomed to freeze to death. "O-Oh, by the way, my name's Natasha;
it's a pleasure to meet you, Shoke." She smiled; please, let all
of this work out.
