The Eldest Glaytor

It was a perfect day in the city of Ysmalt, and a singular
golden furred Lynx had taken the opportunity to go and relax on
a hill somewhere, taking a nap on underneath a large tree that
gave him some shade from the bright sun. This Lynx was sleeping
soundly, the sound of the wind softly colliding with the trees
and flowing through the grass keeping him sound asleep. A shadow
crossed over the sleeping feline, sighing as he folded his arms.
That figure then softly kicked the Lynx, rousing him from his
slumber.
"There are better places to take a nap then on the ground you
know." The figure turned out to be a grey-furred Mountain Lion
with blue eyes, the same eyes as the yellow lynx.
"On a day like this Krieg? I highly doubt that." The Lynx said,
giving a chuckle before yawning and sitting up to stretch his
arms. "What are you doing here anyways? Shouldn't you be off
being no fun with those crotchety old men that think they run
the kingdom?" Krieg simply chuckled.
"I wouldn't have to if you had been there, Shoke." He replied,
offering his hand to help Shoke up, who accepted and pulled
himself to a standing position.
"Well, you know me. I'm not exactly one for those stupid
meetings anyways. I mean, I'm King. I know I have a
responsibility, but seriously..." Krieg cut Shoke off
immediately, pointing towards a castle in the distance,
overlooking a cliff and port. Shoke looks in shock as Krieg
stares in horror.
"That... can't be good." Shoke said, turning to Krieg and them
both running towards the burning castle.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The castle was enveloped in flames as Shoke and Krieg snuck in
through one of the many hidden passages, heading straight for a
nearby room. Krieg busted the closed door open as he looked in
to see a group of four people: two girls, a guard, and a man
dressed in fancy robes and wearing a monocle. He breathed a sigh
of relief as he motioned for Shoke to run into the room and help
them out.
"Shoke! Krieg!" The taller of the two girls said, running
towards Shoke and quickly hugging him. "Big Bro, it was
horrible, they came out of nowhere..." she tried to continue,
but Shoke silenced her.
"Don't worry Juniper. We'll get out of here." He said, looking
to the two guards and motioning for them to leave the room.
Krieg complied and let them pass the door. Shoke then turned to
the smallest of the two girls: his youngest sister, Dusk.
"Dusk... how did this happen?" He asked her. She responded very
straightforwardly.
"I-it was Baron Claus... his men stormed the keep almost the
instant after Krieg had left to find you. We tried our best to
stop him, but..." Shoke stopped her.
"Don't worry Dusk, just stay calm. I know what he wanted..." He
then turned to Krieg as Juniper looked at Shoke.
"You mean... he's after the sword?" She asked, with worry in her
voice. Shoke slowly nodded before looking out the door. The
fires were getting closer.
"We need to get out of here. Primarch, are there any passages
out in this room?" He asked the older wolf.
"Yes, my lord. That's why I took the princesses in here to begin
with, to take them to the saferoom-" Shoke immediately cut him
off.
"Lets get down there. That's where the blade is kept, right? I
have an idea to keep it out of his hands." Shoke had a strong
conviction in his voice as the flames began drawing nearer. He
began searching the room and finally found the loose brick that
opened the door down to a secret room... a safe room. Shoke lead
Krieg, Juniper, and Dusk down into the room, leaving the door
open behind him. After reaching the bottom they entered a small
but secure room with three chests within it. He opened all
three, revealing a Bastard Sword, a Dagger, and Shoke's personal
stash of emergency garments and gear: two book-bags containing
Spellbooks, a Bow and plenty of Arrows, a Greatsword, a fancy
jacket and hat, a Cutlass, a backpack containing food and the
things needed for survival out in the wilds, and finally a
strange coin. Shoke took the Cutlass, the Backpack, the Jacket
and Hat, the Bastard Sword and Dagger, and finally the coin and
one of the two bags. He turned to his family and the Primarch,
nodded slowly as he rubbed the coin and he disappeared, the coin
falling to the ground and breaking in two.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shoke rematerialized on the docks, right next to a ship that was
ready for immediate departure with refugees from the attack.
Shoke put on the coat and hat and ran aboard, carrying all of
the things that he had grabbed and were weighing him down as the
ship was just about to depart. The ship left right after he got
on, heading south to a place called the Haven Isles.
A couple days past, the coat and hat's magic still retaining,
Shoke continued to hide amongst the refugees when something
terrible happened: a storm. This however, was no ordinary storm,
it was a storm that signified the one thing that no sailor wants
to see, and is the last thing many see.
A maelstrom.
The massive whirlpool formed in front of the ship far too fast
for it to change course, and the ship crashed right into it.
Shoke immediately ran for his stuff down in the bunks, hoping to
escape on a smaller boat. However, as he reached the room he ran
into someone. A teal coloured wolf wearing very bizzare garb.
"So, sun-spawn, what do you think of my maelstrom?" The being
asked, inspecting the Bastard Sword with her bare hands.
"Oceana..." Shoke said in shock. He knew that the gods of
Valiance were real, but he never encountered one on his own. He
immediately began drawing for his blade before the goddess
looked at him with a sinister grin.
"I wouldn't do that, unless you want this sword at the bottom of
the ocean." She said, her finger running along the edge of the
blade, not being even slightly cut.
"What do you want, sea goddess?" Shoke asked, terrified that she
would toss the sword into the ocean where it would surely be
lost forever.
"Oh, you silly Lynx. Its as if you don't think I know the
prophecy surrronding this blade, I know that this blade shall be
used to save the world, and I know that if I throw it into my
ocean it would be destroyed by the darkness." She teasingly
said, sheathing the blade.
"Then why are you..." Shoke said before Oceana laughed.
"Don't you know anything? My lovely maelstrom is my gift to you,
sun-spawn. A debt I needed to repay to your line. Do not worry,
you will survive and will reach a far away land where the armies
of the Baron will never find you, or this blade. All of your
possessions aboard this boat will be there waiting for you to
awake in fact!" She said, chuckling. Shoke looked at her
nervously.
"What of the rest on this ship?" Shoke asked, worriedly. The sea
goddess sighed.
"They shall escape and reach their destination unharmed, though
I cannot promise their safety once they reach that place." Shoke
nodded as Oceana finished, and then sighed. Oceana looked at him
with a playful grin. "Are you ready, sun-spawn?"
"...Yes." He said. Oceana grinned as she held up her arms, a
torrent of water flooding into Shoke's bunk as he and all the
stuff inside of his bunk were pulled into the maelstrom. He
watched as he fell deeper and deeper, the light getting farther
and farther away. Then, after what seemed like days, the light
returned. His eyes slowly opened as he awoke on a sandy shore.
His bag was there, as was the dagger and greatsword. Everything
he brought onto the boat was there with him wherever he woke
up...
He pulled himself up from the shore and scavenged his things,
afterwards looking out to the ocean.
"Thank you..." He said softly as he then turned his back to the
ocean and began his quest along this new and mysterious land,
not knowing what dangers lie ahead.
