"What an interesting specimen he is," Rend murmured as he
continued to inspect Shoke. He pulled up a x-ray view and
pointed to the strange anomaly near Shoke's heart. "That right
there, that is an artificial attachment to his heart; a
biological augmentation of sorts. It is what is supplying his
body with chaos energy, almost like one of the emeralds
themselves." For a moment he pulled up the hedgehog's clothes
and listened to his heartbeat. "Artificial, yet flawlessly in
tune."
"Yeah, well he's starting to remind me of himself; they tortured
the fuck out of him." A quick flashback was all it took for
those horrid memories to flood Ajax's mind. "When he was talking
to Natasha, he mentioned a lot of it. How they fed him nothing
but paste, how he constantly was treated like some wild
animal..."

Shoke groans, but doesn't wake up. Continued study shows that
the frequency of the chaos energy is indeed exactly like a chaos
emerald, but the anomaly is entirely organic... well, as organic
as a bio-engineered super-heart can be.

Rend pulled back for a moment as Shoke groaned, but noticed he
was still asleep and continued is inspections. "Well, let's not
forget that he was an experiment... Creating sentience is a task
in itself, but creating a living, breathing sentient being is
something of an entirely different degree." Gently he started
pulling away is his instruments, but left the x-ray print for a
moment as he looked to it.
"He's like a little kid... Grown up on the outside, but still
very much a child on the inside..." Ajax felt the hedgehog's
head for a moment, checking his temperature and then feeling his
neck to check his pulse. You could never be too safe with
something like this. "What about the chaos energy, though?.."
"Well, whoever created him obviously had access to one in order
to mimic it's frequency so perfectly."
"And you think this might be a problem?.."
"...Only slightly..."
Ajax sighed and simply looked back to Shoke, wondering if he
would wake up...

After a while of studying Shoke eventually awoke from his
passing out.
"Ugh... what... how did I... where... no... no more tests...
please... no... no more..." Shoke mumbled in a half-awake
stupor.

Quickly Rend pulled away and Ajax took his place, helping him
sit up slowly. "You okay, Shoke?.." He plucked off the sensors
that were monitoring the hedgehog's pulse and energy levels,
wrapping his arm around his back to support him. "You were out
for a while..."

Shoke then took a sharp breath in a panic, as if he just woke up
from a nightmare. He looked around, and then to Ajax. He then
held his hand to his head.
"I... Ajax? Where... am I?" He asked, scared.

"Still in Miana, Shoke... Still with Rend..." Almost comically,
Rend waved to Shoke as he sat in the corner of the room, but
that wasn't the point. "You're safe, remember? We came to Miana
to get you help with your chaos powers." Gently Ajax took the
hedgehog's hand and pulled it down, showing him one of the
inhibitors on his wrist. "These inhibitors will help you control
it. Okay?"

Shoke looked at the newly installed inhibitors on his wrists and
ran his fingers along the left one, seemingly in awe of this
technology that could possibly help him control his immense
chaos powers.
"These... these will help me?" He asked, fear reverberating
throughout his voice.

Rend, from across the room still, nodded and smiled. "Indeed, my
boy; they will allow you to more easily control your chaos
powers. You still have to learn to control them, but... you
can't accidentally chaos control someone into the air and such."
Finally he stood up and walked over, slowly due to what happened
before, and ran his own finger along side Shoke's on the
inhibitor. "It is made to restrain your powers to your thoughts;
any sort of chaos energy manipulation requires conscious
thought." Ajax nodded and smiled. "You're not the first to use
them; Rend and the boys here have been doing this for a long
time."

"To my conscious thoughts..." Shoke said, then looking at
Rend... specifically the his attire.
"You... no... no no no... not again..." Shoke crawled back, away
from the man in the white coat.
