Ajax simply looked to Shoke in confusion for a short moment
before the steel doors slid open again, and the shining walls of
the complex greeted them. "Well... Here we are; now to check up
on Rend." Somewhat quickly Ajax started making his way through
the halls, knowing the layout well enough; it had been a while
since he had seen Rend.

Finally the two came across a set of double doors, behind which
were the man they were looking for; Rend. Ajax smiled as he
walked over to him, thinking back to the time they spent
studying together. "How's my favorite science nut doin' today,
huh?"
Rend paused and looked over to a moment, a clipboard in hand as
he wrote with one brow raised as he saw the two. "Ajax; how nice
of you to visit the madman. Been a while." He checked off a few
things and handed the board to an assistant before actually
turning to the two, a curious expression on his face as he
glanced over the hedgehog in front of him. "Who we got here,
now? Another friend, eh?"
"One with a favor to ask, actually... You got a moment?"
Rend simply shrugged and smiled; "What else I got besides time?"

Shoke wasn't beside Ajax, in fact, he was hiding behind him like
a child would. His face was filled with fear as he looked at
Rend, his fur standing on end.

Rend smirked as he looked at Shoke hiding behind his friend;
"Relax, son; I don't bite. So... What do you two need?.." He
wasn't prepared for the blunt answer Ajax was about to give him.
"A chaos energy inhibitor."
That shut Rend up. "A chaos energy inhibitor..." Ajax simply
nodded before making that little head motion to Shoke behind
him, obviously a way of saying 'he's got them' without words.
Now the man was infinitely curious with the boy. "You...have
chaos powers?.." he asked gently, in a tone that was almost
fatherly.

Moving closer to Shoke probably wasn't the best idea, as the
only thing that could describe the feeling in his eyes was pure
and utter terror. He stepped back as Rend approached him,
shaking in fear.
"S-stay..." He mumbled.

"Hey, Shoke, calm down; Rend's my friend, he's the one who can
help us," Ajax tried to reassure to the trembling hedgehog. Rend
simply frowned, his expression gone from curious to concerned,
as he backed away. "Can he have a moment? This is all pretty new
to him..." The scientist simply nodded, returning to his work as
the lynx took Shoke to sit at a bench in the corner. "Shoke, you
okay?.."

Shoke was panicking. His breathing was intensifying, and his
heart was beating unhealthily fast. He was backing away more and
more and soon stumbled onto the floor.
"S-stay away from me!" He yelled, crawling away from Rend.

Rend was no longer there, and Ajax grabbed the hedgehog by his
arm and pulled him back to the bench. "Shoke, calm down! No
one's going to hurt you!" Quickly he held Shoke by his head and
made him look him in the eyes. "Shoke, look at me; everything's
going to be alright. Got it? I will not let anything happen to
you. I swear on my life. Now just calm down; I don't want to
have to put morphine in ya to get you to calm down, okay?"

After a moment of Ajax calming him down. Shoke put his hand on
his forehead, shaking his head.
"I... what... what happened..." He looked up at Ajax and his
eyes slowly shifted from a seemingly glowing red and returned to
their normal shade of crimson.
"Where... am I...?" He said, showing signs of short term memory
loss.
