Cate smiled. "Well, if you can, then awesome!" She rolled over
onto her stomach and hugged his waist, nuzzling her head against
him. "We could run together, and snack afterward, and just have
a good ol' time together!" Her stomach grumbled a little then,
and she remembered she was still hungry, reaching into the
basket and pulling out a few pristine chocolates and popping
them into her mouth, moaning happily at the taste. "You want
one?" she asked as she grabbed another and held it out to the
yellow hedgehog.

Shoke shook his head.
"No thanks, Cate." He said, standing up. "I'm going to see how
fast I can run. Don't worry, I'll be right back." He said,
pulling her hand close and kissing it.

The turquoise girl simply blushed and smiled; how romantic he
was, she thought to himself. Gently she slipped her hand out of
his so she wouldn't be dragged behind him, and chewed on a few
more chocolates as she waited to see him run; if he was going to
run as fast as her, he'd have to run 60mph. It was no small
feat, but who knew? Maybe Shoke was a natural.

Shoke got into a starting position, and then he prepared to run.
But then... just appearing long enough for Cate to notice... his
body was surrounded in a crackling of red and black energy...
just after that, he then dashed forward... at 145km/h (90mph).
About a minute later he returned with a panicked look his eyes.
"I... that was..." He said, panting.

"Amazing..." Cate murmured, finishing the sentence for him. She
had heard of Sonic's speed, but she had never seen anyone run as
fast as her with her own eyes, let alone faster. She could only
run that fast for maybe even a minute! Getting up quickly (with
another pair of chocolates in her mouth) she swooned and fell
into his arms, blushing bright red. He was perfect.

Shoke dove and grabbed Cate before she hit the ground, worried
that she was hurt or something.
"Cate! Are you okay?" Shoke looked immensely worried, almost
like he was blaming himself for what just happened to Cate.

"I'm fine, Shoke; that was just... amazing..." Her face was
completely red as she pulled herself up to him, hugging him
tightly as her small tail wagged happily. She was the happiest
girl alive for that instance; the happiest pudgy, speed loving
dork there was. "I... You..." She almost fainted in his arms,
although she still had her arms wrapped around him and a smile
could be seen as her pink cheeks pressed against his. "You're
perfect..."

Shoke sighed in relief and petted her hair.
"...Amazing? Perfect? Cate... I'm not..." Shoke said, trying to
calm her down.

"But you are, Shoke..." Cate kissed him gently on the lips
before continuing. "You're sweet, you're gentle, you're caring,
you're honest... And I've never seen anyone else run as fast as
me, let alone faster... I've only 'heard' of one person like
that." She took his hand as he petted her hair and pressed her
lips against his one more time. "And you're the only guy who's
ever cared... You're a guy who cares about what matters, a heart
of gold... I could only dream of having a heart like that..."

Shoke pushes her away sadly and looks away.
"I'm not perfect... I'm naive, I'm childish, I'm terrible with
other people..." He rambles.
