It's Just A Job

Rising at the crack of dawn and heading out, a black furred
hedgehog got out of bed and performed his daily routine. The
street he lived on had been having issues with one of it it's
traffic lights, and he had been hired to fix it. Grabbing his
toolbox and walking out with a bagel in his mouth as he put on
his coat, he left his apartment and walked over to the
malfunctioning lights. It was apparently the north light that
was having the problem, so he walked over to it and began
climbing the ladder left behind by the city, among other things.
When he got up to the first part that was having troubles, he
noticed that it had a hole in the protective casing of the
systems. He pulled it off and out fell a small purple shard,
seemingly from some sort of crystal.
"This is weird..." He mumbled to himself. What would a crystal
shard be doing in a traffic light? He shrugged as he put it into
his toolbox and planned on looking at it later. After finishing
up the repairs he pulled out his phone and sent the city
administration to test the lights. They did so, and the lights
appeared to be working again. The hedgehog decided to send them
a message to run some diagnostics and do some more tests as he
grabbed his toolbox and prepared to head home. But just then, an
orange hedgehog leaped down from a nearby rooftop and landed
right in front of him.
"Hello brother. It's been a while, hasn't it?" The orange
hedgehog grinned, his statement almost sounding hiss-like. The
black hedgehog back up nervously, slowly put down his toolbox
and entered into a fighting stance.
"Tennym. What do you want?" He asked, his crimson glare piercing
the eyes of the cadmium visitor.
"What?" Tennym chuckled, shrugging. "Is it so wrong to visit
family every once and a while, #27?" He said, smirking at the
black hedgehog.
"When it's you? Yes. And if you don't mind, my name is
Hellfire." He said, picking up his toolbox and trying to walk
past Tennym, who just moved over to block his path.
"Woah woah woah oh brother of mine, I wouldn't want you to leave
without hearing what I have to say, and I thought it might be
something you'd want to hear." Tennym smirked, chucking snidely
as he continued to make Hellfire tenser by grabbing his
shoulder.
"You see, one of our brothers has escaped before he could have
been completed, and now he's wandering the world all alone." He
made a mocking pouty-face and changed his voice to sound
'fake-sad'.
"I just want you to find him for me so I can take him home. Or
at least help me find his corpse." He burst out laughing
maniacally and jumped around with glee, enjoying causing
Hellfire torment as much as he could. Hellfire sighed. He knew
it was the only way to get Tennym to leave him alone, but
another brother? That makes three, and around this time it'd be
one of the 101-120... the last run. He sighed and shook his
head.
"Give me his code and I can find him for you." He said,
hesitantly, not wanting to cause another brother harm. Tennym
smiled and handed Hellfire a small notepad with some numbers
scribbled on in. Hellfire sighed as he pulled out his phone,
opened up an unnamed app and entered the numbers.
"He's currently in a small house in the mountains not far off of
the outskirts of The Dominion's main city." He handed back the
notepad to his older brother, who took it and bowed as if he had
just finished a performance.
"Thank you kindly!~" He said, leaping back up to the top of the
roof he came from and disappearing off, probably heading to
where they dropped him off from.
"Great, Tennym shows up, I find a weird crystal, and now I have
a new brother. What else could go wrong today?" He said, putting
his phone away and beginning to walk down the street back home.
(And there's your invitation!~)

Madness may have been travelling through space and time, but his
mother, Millie Prower, was still very much on Mobius. She had
heard from a certain blue blur husband of the malfunctioning
traffic light but hadn't been in time and watched Hellfire
figure it out. A bit of a d*** move to take work away from
someone who'd been hired to fix it, but how was she supposed to
know that someone had been hired to do it?
"Oh well, there's always next time." she thought as she
watched from behind a telephone pole, wrapping her tails around
herself so their bounding around wasn't a dead giveaway. If he
couldn't fix it she'd step in and help him out.
He had it fixed though and she was about to leave, but his
brother came jumping down before she could. Something about this
figure gave her a chilling feeling. It would seem that she
wasn't the only one flinching on this. As Hellfire passed the
telephone pole that she was behind, Millie unwrapped her tails
from around her and spoke up.
[glow=yellow,2,300]"Please, forgive me for turning my wrench
on bolts that don't concern me. But... This is how I see it
after hearing and seeing him... I don't think he has good
intentions for who he's asking you to find. Are you really going
off to the mountains to find him?"[/glow] she had concern in
her eyes, sure she'd just met him, but about a dozen things
seemed 'iffy' about this situation. And besides that, he was
into fixing things like her. He could make a good friend.

Hellfire turned and looked up at the two-tailed fox who was
standing above him.
"...Well, if you must know, I might just be thinking that.
Though I don't quite have the resources to get there in time
myself, so I may not have much of a choice." He replied, sighing
at his inability to help his new brother.

Millie put a hand to her chin in thought for a second before it
came to her, as did a smile. [glow=yellow,2,300]"What
resources are you lacking friend? If your problem is getting
there, then I can help you out on this. I honestly couldn't turn
away another person who tinkers with technology. ^_^ " she
tilted her head to her right, a bit of a ^^' face on her.
[glow=yellow,2,300]"Of course I understand if you don't want
my help or don't trust me. I know, who just turns up out of the
blue and offers you a way up to the mountains? Yeah."[/glow]
she just shrugged at this. It was his choice after all.

Hellfire put his hands on his hips and sighed.
"Well, I don't have a steady supply of stuff I can make into
different tech. Since it's my job, I kinda have to file a report
and make special requests for when I'm making anything. Even a
god damn toaster." He sighed, putting his hand on his face. He
then looked to the mystery woman and smirked, tilting his head
to the ground.
"If you really want to help... and you're willing to take me
there as fast as possible, then I guess you're the only chance I
got." Hellfire chuckled and looked back at her.
"I guess if we're going to be working together, then we may as
well introduce ourselves. My name is Hellfire." He bowed.

Millie seemed pleased that he seemed okay to go along with
it.[glow=yellow,2,200]"Of course. Millie. Millie Prower.
Perhaps you've heard of Tails?"[/glow] her tails spun
slightly as she said this. His bow was something unexpected but
a gentlemanly gesture nonetheless which she liked.
[glow=yellow,2,300]"A bow. Quite the gentleman. ^_^ " she
was always happy to comment something positive to somebody who
had good intentions, or seemed to have good intentions at least.
[glow=yellow,2,300]"How long will it take you to get what you
need for... Say a plane trip of a few hours? I have a plane that
can get us there, but it's no miracle of science." she found
herself tilting her head side to side slightly.
[glow=yellow,2,300]"I think it could be better, but it
works."[/glow]

"Let me see... I'd say... Zero seconds. Lets go. Also, who the
heck is Tails?" He asked as he stretched his arms back behind
his head, waiting for the fox to show him the way he needed to
go.

Millie began to wander in the direction of one of the city's
larger parks. [glow=yellow,2,300]"Well if you don't know who
Tails is then that's okay Uh, it's just that a lot of people
know him and when they see me, say that I could be him if he was
female. I mean I don't know if it's really a compliment, but I
take it as one." she explained to him as she led him close
to one of the parks then took a left, after going through a few
trees the duo would find a dark blue biplane sitting there. A
picture of two tails and a pair of sneakers and a love heart was
painted onto both sides. [glow=yellow,2,300]"And here it is
Hellfire. I mean, it's not much, but it's... It's capable. ^^
"[/glow] the plane had two seats, one behind the other.
Millie spun up her tails and flew up to the front seat, waiting
for Hellfire to get in with her.

Hellfire inspected the plane briefly, and nodded.
"This'll do just fine. Though we have to leave immediately if we
hope to catch up to Tennym." He stated, leaping into the back
seat of the plane.

[glow=yellow,2,300]"Hellfire, speed is my husband's middle
name, or rather, so he likes to say. Either way, at a guess, a
plane should easily beat someone on foot to getting up
mountains, am I wrong?" she asked him as the plane's front
rotor started to spin. [glow=yellow,2,300]"Engines one and
two, check. Rudders, check."[/glow] Millie was flicking
switches on the plane as she spoke a few other things ending in
'check'. The plane soon started to move forward, about a second
later the plane reversed a bit swivelling to the right. Sure
enough to the right there seemed to be just enough of a clear
stretch to get speed up before bumps in the grass would send
them airborne. Millie managed to turn the plane, set it off, and
despite them being put into the air by the wheels bumping into
some small rocks, they soon enough were in the air and flying
out of Mobotropolis, heading for the nearest mountainous region.
