Tutorial For Those Testing Waters at Hyperchat (jag/soi/gor etc)
   DIR By: LionHeart

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Let Me be clear I am NOT an expert at making avs or
rooms. I have always had people I know do this for Me.
That said I do know a fair amount of getting around in
hyperchat. So this is a tutorial on such.
First the "umbrella" name for this place is hyperchat.
hyperchat has a number of realms. a few for which I will
       list here:
@soi: this is a general one with a leaning to D/s. It is also
where the very first of Gor rooms were at in
hyperchat and there are still some such rooms: Mine,
       gorpub, etc.
@jag: the is a gorean realm
       @gor: another Gorean realm
       @bwr: a magic/fantasy realm
@soe: don't see it much -- My best description from what
       I have seen is medieval
       @war: name kinda says it.
Now if/when one joins you join through one of these
realms, BUT then have access to ALL of them as a member
of hyperchat. The realm you join in is often
referred to as your "tail" Cause when you are not
in "your" realm your tail appears by your name. Also
when mailing people you need to include their tail IF
they are not from your realm.
Membership has its privileges. Prices can be seen by
hitting the "Help Link" over the dialog box. There are
       various lengths of membership.
With membership comes full access to mail; ability to
whisper; ability to enter public rooms that are deemed
       "Not Safe for Work"; you get 6 names you can register;
6 rooms you own to make of what you will and the ability
       to have avs.
As a non-member you can be invited into "not safe for
work rooms"; you can mail TO a member (but the member
can't mail back to you); and you can go into any public
rooms that are not "not safe for work"
Whispering (members only) is done by clicking on the
~ that appears after another Member's name.
For room creation and avs My best advice is to contact
veronica (she made the room design for gstavern) , but
she does this for free so ASK NICELY and be patient.
she asks you notify her through a place she has made
for requests and NOT her mail. That addy is: vgraphic@soi
See all: lets you see the most recent conversations in
all the rooms in that realm plus some related ones
Hot: lets you see what rooms are active with people in them.
The box with "Find" by it allows you to type in a room
address and go there directly . REMEMBER if that room
is in a different realm than the one you are in you
have to include the room's "tail" (eg: @soi, @jag, etc.)
Private rooms can be made (if join) by using one of
your 6 rooms and designating it so. You can create a PW
and give that to the folk you want to let in OR on a case
by case basis inviting them to the room, but that
fades after the given "session" and has to be re-issued.
Invitation can be done by hitting the ~ after a Member's
       name or the * after a non-members.
A couple of differences to note:
First, unlike GS & PS conversations here remain FOREVER
unless intentionally erased. If you look at the box called
       "Show"
you will see a number (usually 20). that
number can be increased to 999 and when you hit Talk you can
       scroll
down and see the last 999 posts. (may seem
like less, but the system counts whispers that you may
not see). At the bottom on that is a place can then ask to see
       previous
999 before that. One can erase your own posts by hitting the ~
       behind your name
and following the directions. If are a room owner in your rooms
       you can remove
others posts the same way. Also if room owner
can sweep the room clean by hitting Local Controls and
       following the prompts.
Second is a Gorean FYI. Here you can address specific
members in a way could not at PS/GS (do so by in essence
doing what would have done to whisper to them in PS/GS)
Due to this when visiting other Gorean rooms slaves may
get in trouble for saying for example Master LionHeart.
they can address the post to the Free directly and so
are generally in most rooms NEVER allowed to say ANY
       Master's name
       Hope this has helped.
       LionHeart
Specific question can be sent to Me there in mail at: Lionheart
       of Old@soi

       Additional notes:
*The 6 names you register are "protected" but ONLY within your
realm. For example there may be 2 LionHearts one
with an @soi tail and one with an @jag tail (or even more with
the other realms) THAT said your name and account
are secure in that if one looks at the tail can always tell you
       apart.
*Banning can be done by room Owners (unlike GS/PS) as the
structure of GS/PS was you bought entry to use the whole
of the place. In hyperchat you buy control over your rooms so
banning another from your rooms is not a violation of their
membership rights as they have not paid for your rooms and can
       ban you from theirs.

       Also
Please make sure avatar's (icons) that you wear in public show
no nudity. Someone messaged me overnight to caution against
this. If an admin sees it the person and the room owner could be
       in trouble.
You can change avatars once you go private.
If you see anyone in the rooms with in appropriate "dress"
please ask them to change to something else or leave if they
       won't.

I have found the GS Tavern to be interesting with many attendees
from other areas of the site, who generally have been very
friendly and helpful. LH’s comments and explanations are just
what is needed, navigating around the sites and understanding
them is, for me, far from straightforward.
naia suggested that a ‘working Forum’ held there could
concentrate on actively trying out the site. This linked in with
LH’s information would be a help. I will try to be there at E -
Forum times on Sunday - but in my absence encourage others to
simply turn up and “coach” each other in becoming conversant
       with the site.
       Just an idea.
       Regards,
       Randolph.
