       Greetings Jarls, Masters and slaves,
In keeping with the ambiance of a Northern sojourn flicka
thought it would be good to post this. It is a Viking clap and
is the Scandinavian equivalent of the New Zealand Haka.
       Fitting flicka thinks.

       A little background:
Iceland is the only place, to My knowledge, where the language
is still close to the old Norse. Many of the Norse sagas, such
as The saga of burnt Njal, took place in Iceland and the famed
poet and historian Snorri Sturluson lived and wrote in Iceland:
he wrote the best known of the Old Norse sagas, the
Heimskringla, written in Old Norse, and in these works some of
the old Norse customs and ways of living can be found.

After the global financial crisis of 2008, Iceland decided to
hold the banks responsible for their actions - and let them
fail. As far as I know the only European country to do that -
they are a strong and independent people to this day.
There are several podcasts about the old norse stories.
I believe Randolph told Me He has visited Iceland, and has good
       memories of the place.
Stephen Jenkinsen used to do some of his Orphan Wisdom School
Sessions in Iceland, and hopefully will again after Covid -
       Iceland is an amazing setting.

       A personal note:
one of My best teenage / young adult years friends was a Swede
named Greg, last name withheld - he drove his Suzuki bike down
the main hall of our High School one day, for fun. If a driver
tried to drive him off the road on the highway, which happened
more than once, he would pull a full beer bottle out (He was a
great drinker and always had a supply ready), while still
driving, and throw it and break it against the offending cars
window. He also, one time while being chased by the police for
not stopping for a traffic violation, crashed his bike and took
out like 8 sections of chain link fence, and then had to cut his
boots off to get him out.
He said something really funny to the police as they cut Him out
of the fence, it was a running joke with us for years - but I
have forgotten it - but you can see His fighting spirit - in
serious trouble, being arrested, banged up and injured after a
terrifying crash, angry police - and he smiles at them at tells
       a joke!
He was a loyal friend and a strong fighter, and if he was at
your side in a scrap, you know he would stay there.
He died young, as most vikings do, and in Him I know I saw some
       of the old ways.
