       Advice on NMM in GD
By: Whiteout Date: February 11, 2019, 3:07 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hi all, so I'm not at the level of painting I believe is
required for GD, been painting for a few years and I'd say my
stuff is above average but not near pro, yet to own an airbrush
and I'm learning the finer intricacies of painting now such as
       NMM, reflections, OSL, etc.
I'd like to enter GD for the first time this year, as I'd like
to start pushing myself with each piece I complete now, and
think the competition is the perfect way for me to do this.
Now onto my question finally, do you think NMM is required for
GD, or do TMM with good shading and blended highlights also have
a place? As I love both styles and feel that each have benefits
       and weaknesses.
       Thanks!

NMM is most certainly not necessary to include in your entry. No
specific style is necessary because at the end of the day, it's
a painting competition, so it's about what fits your piece and
how well it is executed. Looking at the winners on the GD
website is always a good way of reminding yourself of the
variety of styles that have placed.
Best of luck with your entries! :)

I have even spoken to a judge who said he prefered true metals.
But at the end it doesnt really matter as long as its well
       painted.

Thanks for the replies, was just wondering on the topic mostly,
as I've only just started learning NMM and it's not a quick
       thing to master!
Looking forward to my first demon in May, will be a great
       experience!

I was the same before vigilus last Nov. But I used tmm on all my
entries and it didn't really affect the judging I don't think.

I would even go as far as saying that a well done TMM is more
       "precious" than NMM!
