Would like trams like this:
This more what I ment, more similar to what you came up:

But in matt faded colours, black, green, red, mustard or blue,
with large triangular destination boards,modern headlamps and
other such fittings e.g. cattle guards; and closed cabs with
quad fold bus doors.
Advertisements on side. Some with wooden slat seats, some have
modern bus seats.
Might be a few eighties ones in style of Alexandria/re-built
balloon cars but suitably battered.

That's more or less what I thought for newer tram. Like the
bars. I'll have a bash at an older tram at some point. (rick)

Bit rough but a map of what the candalore tram system might look
like. Route 1 would be the 1 served by double-deckers.
Shows railways as well

i thought most trams would be DD? i think uni-directional trams

DD trams are rare. So I wouldn't have that many. Maybe another 2
lines with them

The area around the central station is particularly interesting.
All the tram lines cross here with two lines terminating. [Not
sure a about track layout:A simple loop or something more
complicated]
Also served by many bus services some terminating, visited by
intercity coaches, lots of rickshaw and taxi ranks.
People parking ad-hoc wherever there's space.
Several major roads converge.
Ox carts and other beasts also amongst the traffic.
Basically a huge open square with people going in any old
direction and the main reason for the cities chronic traffic
problems.
The road going south with lines 1 and 2 is a very wide
boulevard, 6 lanes each side with a narrow tree lined central
reservation. It is normally at a standstill
