       Paywall Pandemic

       Nearly every MSM Newz Service has a Paywall now, and they get
       ever more difficult to circumvent also.  Even the f*cking Alaska
       Daily Newz has a paywall!
       Generally these days I am not all that interested in reading the
       details of the story anyhow, the Headlines are enough for me.
       You guys are free to pay to read the rest of the article if you
       like.  I doubt many of you will do that though.
       Copy/Pasting if you can actually get to the story, also much
       harder, along with linking pics.  This was stuff I did all the
       time to illustrate my articles on the Diner and incorporate
       quotes from "experts".  Today, I could not run the Diner as I
       did even just 5 years ago, even if I wanted to do that, which at
       this point I do not.
       A few newz services are still free or mostly free.  BBC, NPR,
       Aljazeera, Guardian etc.  Major MSM video like CBS, NBC Newz
       also drop their stories on YouTube, still mostly free though
       with ads plugged into the vid.
       You can still try searching the net for alternative sources
       without paywalls, but these are usually far down the list of
       stories on the Google search engine, if they appear at all.
       Even if you do that though, such reports are notoriously
       unreliable, so you have to then try to do "fact checking", a
       laborious and time consuming process.  Trying to fact check, you
       run into still more paywalls.
       So, HTF can you find out what is REALLY going on out there?
       Answer is:  YOU CAN'T!
       All you can do, which is what I do is extrapolate based on the
       Headlines and compare with your own personal experience and what
       is occurring in your neighborhood.  The internet was supposed to
       bring the worl together, in practice now it has made it even
       more opaque than ever.
       Thus, nobody I talk to IRL generally has any CLUE about what is
       ongoing in the world.  When I ask one of my PCAs what they know
       about Ukraine or Fertilizer shortage or Crypto currency, they
       look back at me with a blank stare.  They may know if TP is
       still on the shelf at Walmart, and they have opinions on getting
       vaxxed and wearing masks, but not real well informed opinions.
       In short, they are just ignorant of what is really ongoing.
       They will find out eventually, when the Tsunami rolls in on
       their doorstep.

       I use Pocket to bypass a lot of paywalls. I learned about it
       from Irv Mills' blog. I basically just the copy the link of the
       paywalled site and paste it into Pocket and read it on there. It
       doesn't work for all the outlets but it does just fine with
       quite a few. It was created to be a place where you store stuff
       you want to read, and it displays articles without all the ads
       and also conveniently getting by paywalls.
       For example this article about Trudeau that came out back in
       October:

       See pics for the two different views, one on the Star website
       and one on Pocket. It does the trick! I do a lot of reading on
       Medium with Pocket too, because screw a subscription.

       Sometimes I use the tor browser to get behind paywalls.  Many
       tor servers have paid your way through the paywall.

       Make sure you install it correctly and check the signature.
       Otherwise your anonymous browser may not be so anonymous.
