Have you used an instant pot? I've used manual pressure cookers
and they are great but the control is much better on the
electric versions. To make a stew uses about 1/4 the
electricity of a crock pot. Of course it's a computer so prone
to break down.

Oh sure. I have an Instapot. It takes a lot of the guesswork
out of pressure cooking but all the principles are the same.
All the computer does is timeit and maintain a constant
temperature.
Here's one of my favorite Cooking Zone vids I did making Corned
Beef & Cabbage with the Instapot.

Nice. One of our favourites is making pulled pork with a good
fatty Pork shoulder. Seared first in paprika brown sugar garlic
salt and cumin. I had a manual pressure cooker and could control
it ok but you use a great deal more energy and vent a lot more
steam with the stovetop ones.more resilient I suppose as long as
the gasket lasts.

Yah, because the heating element is inside on an Instapot, you
don't have al the waste heat you have when cooking over an open
flame. Very efficient.
However, still better in efficiency would be to use a standard
pressure cooker with a Solar Oven. Paint the outside black,
drop it in the oven on a sunny day and you use no fuel at all!
:) Solar Ovens are a very EZ DIY projest.

Gaskets might be a problem at some point, but a really well
machined one shouldn't need one. You screw it down so tight
enough gas doesn't escape fast enough for it to lose pressure.
You also can make a temporary gasket using Bear Grease. That's
how the piston in an ICE holds pressure when the Diesel or
Petrol explodes. The Engine Oil does that, besides lubricating
the movement of the piston. Anyhow, laying in a supply of
silicone sheeting is a good idea for making all sorts of gaskets
for your plumbing needs.
