What’s next? Foraging for food? At what point do we need to
start guarding our pets from human predators?
Jeff is getting a tad histrionic. lol.
I talked with Jeff Tucker quite some time ago. It's somewhere

No collapse, just a new normal with everyone isolated in their

It's not "collapse", no. It is "collapseING, a work in
progress. Collapse is underway when the slope on the growth
curve goes negative. For per capita global energy consumption,
this occurred sometime between the 1970's and 1990's. For
population, in many western countries it ha been negative for
around a decade, China is expected to begin declining next year
according to the latest statistical models.
Now, precisely how long the process will take is open to
conjecture, but the current trajectory is not. Unless you
believe that somehow magically the slope on these curves will
turn back positive, you have a continuation of the process
moving forward. The Olduvai graph developed in the 1990's puts
us back at a 1930' level around 2030, But that timeline could be
off a decade or possibly more, but unless something radical
shit's out of a unicorn's ass, not much more than that.
Is 1930's living "collapsed" in the past tense? Compared to
today it is, but not compared to 1830 or 1730 or 10,000 BCE.
lol. It likely will take quite some time to step all the way
down the ladder, but for most people living in the West, they
       would consider that as collapsed.
How far down will it go before it turns around and the slope
turns positive again, if it ever does? None of us Boomers is
likely to be here, so the question won't be answered in our
time. Meanwhile it is quite EZ to observe and measure the
       progress. Just read the newz.

Indeed. And after more than half a century claiming the ruin
about to happen or happening (start with Earth Day 1970) the one
thing we have proven is that we aren't worth **** predicting the
speed to ruin, let alone the mechanism of our doom.
       Buddy J
What you keep presenting is a straw man walking a straw dog.
       straw man
an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up
because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.
       straw dog
a straw dog is a scapegoat group, place, person or idea in which
we dump our evilness, so we can blame it and then by attacking,
dissing or destroying it, we externalize it outside of us so we
       feel free of sin.
Obviously, I can't speak for anyone else. My views on the
accelerating collapse of critical systems, causing increasing
danger for any semblance of a rational society, are based on
what is happening NOW. I do not have to justify or defend
anything that came out of ASPO in the past. I am not shilling
for some elite liberal think tank of the 1980s. Their
conclusions have nothing to do with me. We speak about Limits to
Growth because they were very accurate (especially considering
what they had to work with.) However, LTG isn't why I believe
collapse is obvious, ongoing, intensifying, accelerating and
here now. And for Chrissake, because there was an Earth Day in
1970 and the skeleton of capitalism hasn't imploded yet, we are
all wrong? Before that I was beaten by cops in 1966 - the first
time - when I was protesting industrialized mass murder in
Vietnam. I was 15. I was right then and I'm right now.
Because you and your family are fine all is well. You have
worked hard, using your brain and ambition to get ahead and
everything is all good for you. Mazel tov. It has worked for
you - so obviously the system is fair, healthy, without sin and
humming right along with no end in sight. Those who do not
recognize the magnificence of this system are wayward dupes in
need of your insight. Much like the "Prosperity Christians" of
the southern megachurches, God wants you to be rich.
You've got that dog on a short leash.
I've been fighting the oil industry, warmongers, the polluters,
grifters, official racketeers and greedy pigs all my life. It's
been a good fight - but we are losing. Even so, I would not go
back and switch my life for an easier, more comfortable journey.
       We judge success differently.
As it happens, I know well folks who are working in, with, and
trying to save the natural world. I've mentioned this here
before. I do not know or know of one scientist (not employed by
an industrial polluter) who will tell you all is well - or even
survivable. Not one. ( Okay - I do know one guy with 2 pocket
protectors who claims we'll be saved by thorium reactors any
       year now.)
When I first started to contribute here I was expecting to learn
strategies and tactics for collapse from others, and maybe
contribute a useful idea or two. I did not expect to be arguing
over whether collapse is a real thing. I'm not going to do that
anymore. As it turns out, there really is little to no interest
here in actual strategies. I'm not a dilettante. This is what
I do. I do not have the time to argue with you. Events related
to and signaling collapse are intensifying and closing in. We
are very short on time. In my view we are in collapse now and I
do not have the effort to spare on you. I'm old and the effort
to further prepare takes all I've got.
So I won't be responding to you again - unless you leave the
       straw dog at home.
"In life it is important to know when to stop arguing with
people and simply let them be wrong."
"Ikh vintshn ir gezunt. Itst lozn mir aleyn."

And now I've got to go pick apples and take care of our young
friend who is very ill from the jab. Goodbye.
