       Another Triumph of Capitalism
Perhaps this belongs in the economy thread - but you guys seem
to be on a roll there.
I find it ironic, to say the least, that while the US government
is doing everything it can to provoke a war with Russia in the
Ukraine, they have no problem with suppliers selling Russian
ammo online. Since the start of the plandemic I've kept track
of ammo price and availability, along with price and
availability of some firearms. I view this as one barometer of
public sentiment. For a while now, in the sources I monitor,
good 12GA buckshot has been $1 a round - sometimes more. This
as availability of relatively inexpensive shotguns has lately
increased with a flush of Turkish imports.
Well, that has changed. This ad is part of a sale going on with
SG Ammo. $.62 per round in a box of 15. $.47 per round in a
       case of 120.
       "PRODUCT DETAILS
Fetter 12 Gauge 00 Buck is a reliable choice for a variety of
roles, from deer hunting to personal defense and home defense.
These shells are made with consistency and careful attention to
detail just outside of Moscow. The translucent plastic hull
provides smooth feeding and extraction in semi-auto or classic
       pump shotguns...."
So, while the masters of war plan their next profitable
enterprise, they have no problem with making a few quick bucks
on the side. The populace is largely distracted with Big
       Pharma's latest profit-at-any-cost-to-human-health enterprise.
War has very little support among the populace - but that rarely
       matters to the profiteers.

       What is it good for?
Major General Smedley Darlington Butler (July 30, 1881 – June
       21, 1940), nicknamed "Maverick Marine",[1] was a senior United
States Marine Corps officer who fought in the
Philippine–American War, the Boxer Rebellion, the Mexican
Revolution and World War I. During his 34-year career as a
Marine, he participated in military actions in the Philippines,
China, and Central America; the Caribbean during the Banana
Wars; and France in World War I. Butler was, at the time of his
death, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. By the end of
his career, Butler had received 16 medals, five for heroism. He
is one of 19 men to receive the Medal of Honor twice, one of
three to be awarded both the Marine Corps Brevet Medal (along
with Wendell Neville and David Porter) and the Medal of Honor,
and the only Marine to be awarded the Brevet Medal and two
Medals of Honor, all for separate actions.
“I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and
during that period I spent most of my time as a high class
muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In
short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped
make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil
interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place
for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped
in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the
benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the
International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I
brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar
interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American
fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it
that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on
it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could
do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on
       three continents.”

Thanks for posting this, Mr Potts. I can tell you that this
history is NOT taught in the US public educational system. They
would have you believe that the US freed the Philippines (and
Cuba) from the oppressive Spanish colonialists - with only
benign intentions. The popular (and completely mistaken)
impression is that US history in the Philippines started with
Bataan and Corregidor. Though there is some reference to
pre-war McArthur - usually as a benevolent viceroy. The fiction
includes the idea that America was never interested in a
colonial empire - we were there and everywhere to project
       freedom and democracy. Jesus Christ.
I don't know why S Butler omitted this from his own account.
Perhaps the truth was beyond his ability to cope.

I don't know if this has been posted before - if so my
       apologies.
This is a pretty handy site when estimating casualties from
various types of strikes in a nuclear war. The closest major
target to here is Fairchild Air Force base on the outskirts of
Spokane. For us, much would depend on wind direction. Today,
the major fallout would be to our east. Yesterday it would have
       been right over us.
